As someone with a Class A license, many states already have similar laws on the books.
Drive a slow-moving vehicle with 5 or more vehicles held up behind you? Pull over and let them by...or get a ticket.

I have no problem with passing on the right if there is sufficient room (basically, situations where the car you're passing had plenty of space to move right but didn't).

If you are talking about the people who weave in and out of the lanes when there's clearly not enough room to make the pass, then I'm right there with you.

If so, the law needs to be modified to catch you too. And the fines should be huge! Damn slowies in the passing lane. :|

So theoretically, anyone driving in the left lane could get pulled over? You're either driving too slow or speeding?

looks like it

I hate people driving slow in the left lane as much as anyone, and mountain roads where it's one lane in each direction but I think the law is stupid. If they were going to legislate this in my state where the speed limit is 65 then they'd better raise the maximum for the left lane. Going 64? You're breaking the law; Going 66? You're breaking the law.

Obviously they don't ticket you for going 66 but the point is that you'd be breaking a law on either side of 65.

they need to raise minimum speeds. peopel driving 45 mph while everyone else is going 75 is more dangerous than the guy going 80 (ND speed limit is 75)

I like the idea of the law because too many drivers have no idea what the purpose of the left lane is.

I was under the impression that most states had a maintain a right lane law, which basically says that the left lane is for passing.

States should consider a law ticketing what I like to call "middle laners" ... those SLOWdrivers (many times senior citizens) who drive in the middle lane on the Interstate. They seem to feel entitled to the middle (which can be just as dangerous as the fast lane) instead of using the right lane.

It really disrupts traffic flow.

Correctly if I'm wrong, "the limit" is, theoretically, the MAXIMUM speed limit that you can drive. Therefore, theoretically again, you should NEVER go above "the limit".

In reality, almost everybody breaks the law for going overs-peed-limit on the left lane.

What I don't see is the "MINIMUM" speed limit posted along the highways.

Well, for "no passing on the right" to actually work, those left lane hogs would need to actually GTFO of the left lane first ....

Situations like the "plenty of space to move over to the right but didn't" would pretty much be eliminated.

Exactly.
Until they stop ticketing on both sides, I will drive 65mph in the left most lane on cruise control.
