Me want. This looks awesome. HL1 is quite possibly the best PC game in history and this will bring the graphics up to date.

It's an FPS.
Formula for a "successful" FPS? Same graphics as the last four + contrived storyline that doesn't make sense + grenade launcher = $$$ . There's NO actual content difference between the games. They're all the same. I don't care what franchise you're talking about...they're all the same. Hell, even Hellgate: London was the same.
I really wish someone would come up with something new. The same old shit time and time again got old in 2000.
You really don't know what you are talking about, do you? HL was one of the first FPSs that did have an intense story line and revolutionary graphics (for 1998). Sounds like you just don't like FPS games, which is fine, but that's no reason to crap on the genre.

What he is saying is technically true. How old is HL2??? 4 years. Every game has been the same graphics slightly updated with the ongoing storyline. I'm not trying to defend him but what he is saying is 100% true. I'm going to get Black Mesa because I'm a Valve/HalfLife nut and will get pretty much anything associated with them. This is HL1 with HL2 graphics. Nothing revolutionary but it sure will be fun as hell to play.

Been waiting......and waiting....and waiting, for years. Awesome trailer.
Anyone here have any inside info on a possible release date?
I've visited their (many) Forums for years and you're not allowed to ask, lol.
HL1 is still my all-time favorite single player game, replaying it (again) with the Source engine should be special.

I hope it offers some new gameplay this time around. HL2 and it's successors have been played exactly the same for years now. It is long past boring. Not to mention the seriously dated visuals, but that's not a big deal if the game is fun. From the video, this game looks like nothing more than HL2 gameplay in a different set of levels.

Imo, Halflife 1 had better gameplay than halflife 2. More creative/original, it at least tried to do things differently throughout the game (sneaking areas, puzzle areas, run away areas, use of external utilities, platforming areas). Halflife 2 was straight run and gun with a physics gun.
However, I already replayed halflife many times. At the very least, I've played it software rendered, 3d rendered, with the blue shift hd pack, and halflife source, and I've lost track of how many times I've replayed any of those variants.
I don't think I've replayed through all of halflife 2 even once.

How is this different than Half-life: Source? Wasn't that HL rendered in the Source engine?

Play through HL2 once. It takes a few hours. It's pretty short.

No, HL:Source was a touch up to the old game improving lighting and water mostly. Black Mesa is a total conversion of HL to the Source engine.
