"When it's done" - that's how the team's attitude has been during the entire project.

Can't hope for the best when modder's are involved. I rather spend my spare time doing something I get paid for myself.
I know these are unpaid volunteers making this game, but good lord its taking a long time. This thing was announced shortly after the original HL2 came out, which came out, what, 2004?

The mod is vaporware. Like most mismanaged mods, I doubt it will ever see the light of day.
This. I always laugh when a mod like this is announced. I've been burned too many times in the past, following exciting looking mods which wind up in oblivion.
Some of you guys forget that this mod is being made by small team of hobbyist and not some large big budget development company. Give them some time, they have no deadline and if a few more months, or years for that matter, are need i'm absolutely fine with that. IMO, that means they actually do care about the end result and chances are it will at least be decent. Plus, it's free!
Theres a difference between a small team of hobbyists that gets their work out in a reasonable timespan and is managed well and that keeps their community informed, and one that cryptically pretends to be working on a mod for 8 years.
What is going on here is the modding community equivalent of a Duke Nukem Forever.

We don't forget that. But we also don't bother supporting mods which in all likelihood will never be released. I've been down that road in the past.
I actually like HL2 more, though I LOVED them both. Both games can be beaten in ~3 hours, so length is irrelevant.
