New build and I'm wondering about my temps

I just completed my new computer with the following parts,

Gigabyte 965P DS3
Intel C2D E6700
G.Skill 2GB RAM
BFG 8800GTX
WD 74GB Raptor
Antec 650W TruePower Trio

Everything is stock and I haven't overclocked a single thing. I checked the temp of my CPU in the BIOS and it shows 46C. I then check the CPU temp using some programs and here are some pics of what I got.

Temp when calculating 32M in Super Pi

Idel temps after Super Pi finished

Are those normal? Is it also normal that one core is hotter than the other core?

I'm wondering if the stock cooler is installed improperly? Also, should get an aftermarket cooler for my CPU since I'm using the stock one that came with the E6700. Also, here's a pic of the inside of my case to help determine if I have bad airflow.

Inside of my case

I should note that the fan at the top of the case blows air in and not out.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

The stock cooler never helps.

You can turn off Smartfan in the DS3 bios to make the fan run full speed which will lower temps. I have a Freezer 7 Pro and disabling Smartfan lowered my temps by about 10C.

And you can always try messing around with case fans. My case has 6 80mm fan slots (2 back, 2 front, one side, one top), and the best setup I came up with using 4 fans as far as temperature goes is side intake, 2x rear exhaust, and top exhaust.

I'll try that FightTest, thanks!

One more question. Is it safe to connect the fans to a regular molex connector from the PSU rather than the ones labeled "Fan Only?" I seem to be getting lower temps when the fans are connected to them than the "Fan Only" ones.

Hm, you mean your PSU has specifically labeled "Fan" connectors? I've never seen that before, but I can't imagine it would matter.

As far as I've been concerned PSU connections are done according to however I can manage to get everything attached and kept away from any moving parts. A connector is a connector is a connector on every PSU I've ever used. (Of its appropriate type of course.)

(edit, if the "fan only" connectors raise your temperature then it probably means they get less voltage than a standard molex connector which would make them run slower, and also be why they're labeled "fan only" as it would lack the power for whatever else you would use them for. speculation though, I'm not an electrical guru.)

Intel's Stock coolers are C*@#. Get a nice aftermarket like Ninja or something. But a low RPM 120mm fan. It reduced 10 Degrees for me. Ofcource, it wont go much below your room temp so make sure your room is nice and cool. Also Arctic Silver is know to reduce another 3 to 5 degrees. During winter my CPU temp is around 47 idel, but summers I cant get it below 55 and under game load it goes beyond 65 - i know its not recommended but cant do anything...

If you want to run your computer at stock, I'd say these temps are fine and just enjoy.

If you want to OC, you'll find that the temps will rise from the mid 60s under load into the 70s pretty quickly, and that you'll want better cooling. The best place to start is with an aftermarket cooler, the the Tuniq Tower, Scythe Infinity or Ninja, or one of the other top rated coolers. Using decent thermal compound (TIM) like AS5 will also help some.

For example, I have a E6600 and am stable at 3.6Ghz @1.5625v, with temps maxing out in dual Prime95 at 54C. That's with a Scythe Infinity (CPU and HSF lapped), AS5, and an Antec 900 case.

Hope this helps!
