Hello Folks,

About to pull the trigger on the parts in the link below. Main purpose of the pc will be photo editing using photoshop, lightroom and other photography softwares. I will also be utilizing for gaming as well. Not a hardcore gamer but will use machine for sim racing and VR games via steam.

I will be repurposing psu and case.

Appreciate your time and feedback.

It took me awhile to figure out some of the prices on that build, until I figured out you're buying from Canada. I'm having a hard time determining what you're looking for from these parts.

First, do you want to overclock? I don't recommend it with photography software.

With that motherboard, do you need WiFi? Would you be interested in WiFi 6 if so?

What PSU are you re-using? How old is it?

But in general, I would say that sacrificing CPU and RAM performance for a top-of-the-line GPU isn't worth it for most photo editing work. Also, that's a big CPU cooler that's probably more than you need. So a work-in-progress toward your best build might be:

The 212 Evo might be a little less than you'd want, but it's quite decent.

I think your adjustments are spot on @Ken g6

The dark rock is definitely worth the money though, if he is a silent PC guy. Not to mention it looks tough, which will give the build a theme, when paired with that mobo. It'll take it from TUF MOBO, to TUF MOFO.

Thank you @Ken g6 for your feedback and suggestion. I was initially considering 3900x but figured 3600 would suffice for my current needs and i can upgrade in a couple of years if need be to one of the upcoming new gen chips then.

I have no desire to overclock at all and just needs the machine to run efficiently and as cool temp as possible. Don't need the RGB components either.

Current PSU Enermax revolution 85+ 850W over 10 years old https://www.anandtech.com/show/2662.

Regarding wifi 6, i have not really looked into it much but you think it is a good reason to consider today for future support? I have been really out of touch with computer parts as my last build was 2009 and since 2012 i have been on MacBook.

Thank you Sir and have a great day.

You only need WiFi on this machine if you can't plug it into an Ethernet cable for some reason. Like maybe your landlord supplies you WiFi but no Ethernet plug? I'm guessing you don't need WiFi on this machine.

A 10-year-old PSU should really be replaced. Too bad a good PSU these days costs more than that Black Rock cooler. What's your budget look like? Do you insist on an AMD video card?

My current best suggestion for a build is:

I'm not particularly happy with that motherboard - only 8 power phases for the CPU. But you're not overclocking, and it's a good PSU, so it ought to work decently well.

My budget i would not like to go over $2.5K cdn since i need to also get a ips 32" monitor as well.

yes i will need wifi since my modem/router are installed in living room and machine will be in upstairs office room.

So you think upgrading psu is a must?

Video card does not have to be AMD, open for suggestion. just not 2080ti.

Thank you.
