Gigabye GA-8I915P Duo Pro mobo (flashed to latest BIOS)
Enermax Noisetaker 370W (ATX 1.3, seperate 12v rails)
P4 630 3.0GHz (retail HS/F)
1GB (2X512MB) G.Skill value CAS2
Abit X700 Pro
WinXP Pro

1.) Very confused about CPU fan speeds. In the BIOS it says my CPU fan is going about 2500rpm. In Windows both Easytune and Sandra are warning me that my CPU fan speed is too low. According to Easytune it dips under 1000rpm when idle and around 1500rpm under load. I've checked the fan and it's spinning freely and seems fine. My CPU temps are fantastic tho (considering it's the retail HS/F) - it idles around 35C and after a pass of 3DMark2003 it's about 42C. I expected the temps to be much higher than that, so I'm wondering if I should even trust those temp readings. My case does have very good airflow with plenty of fans, but even so! Is Windows just getting confused because of the smartfan function? Cos this fan seems to be working just fine and doing its job to me!

2.) The G.Skill RAM was advertised as CAS2 and Sandra says that is what the RAM's capability is. However, when I run the mobo info scan or memory tests it tells me it's actually running at CAS 2.5 instead. How can I change it to CAS2? There are no options in the Award BIOS that I can see - other motherboards I've had it's been very easy to change...

3.) I'm a bit worried about my 12v rail - it shows up in Easytune as 11.6v to 11.7v, and in Sandra as low as 11.5v. The system seems to be 100% stable (so far...) so, again, I'm not sure if I should worry about these readings?

Any help with these niggles would be great

1) From your description, your temps are normal -- sometimes depending on how these monitors (ie Easytune, etc) are setup, they will give warnings just in case that your fan's malfuntions. But from your temps readings, they're OK.

2) Yeah, that's a bit odd, usually these BIOS allows you to change memory settings.

3) According to Sandra, my 12V rail is running as low as 11.45V, eventhough my motherboard monitor indicates 12.096V (Sandra and other mobo monitor are not known to be accurate when reporting these type of things). As long as your system's running stably, don't worry about it.

Thanks for that....

As for question 2 about the RAM, I've just discovered you have to press CTRL+F1 in the BIOS to unlock the advanced settings. And there are all the RAM timings
