I wanted to try for a silent PC with data redundancy as I have work stuff on it. I like the Fractal S and wanted lots of low speed air and positive pressure.
After installing the three NF 14's in the front, one in the rear and replacing the Corsair fans with two NF14's, found that the H115 would not line up with the top two140mm fans in the front. I made some brackets and mounted it where I wanted it.
With the buttloads of air coming in the front, I needed more airflow out the back so I cut out the area under the rear fan and added a 5.25 vented slot cover.
Added a 8 port PWM fan hub and control all the fans with Corsair Link.
added all the drives to the back and wired it up.
After installing Win 7, I installed Asus GPU Tweak to control the GPU fan. The 4790K was at 1.282 CoreV in the default setting of the BIOS , so I tried to make it run at 1.152 CV like my other 4790K..........nope. Blue screen at boot up. It runs stable at 1.162 , but just to be safe I bumped it to 1.72 .
Set the fans to run at 30% (660RPM) up to 40C on the CPU and ramp up to 100% ( 1980RPM) at 70C, Gpu
set to hold 1300 RPM to 45C and up to 100% at 60C.
Ran Intel burn test for two hours clocked @ 4.4 G at 23C ambient and reached a max of 69C. During normal , non gaming use, the CPU hold 30C and the GPU around 31C. It is dead silent, I can't here the pump or fans at all. My stupid NAS sitting on the desk is the noisiest thing now.
Keep in mind I built this to be quite, so 4.4 is good to go for me. I found that running 4.6 on my last build of a 4790K and a 780TI it made virtually no difference in 1080 gaming.
I don't think the H115i is any great shakes, I believe I could have reached these temps with an H80, but just more noise. Oh well, the 115 was on sale.
