Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with a new Intel-ATI build of mine. I probably should have posted the specs on here first to get some feedback before putting it all together. In any case, here are the specs and i'll post the issues after:
MOBO:
Asus P8Z68-V LX Socket 1155 Intel Z68 Chipset Dual-Channel DDR3 2200(O.C.)*/2133(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 MHz 2x PCI-Express 2.0 x16 GLAN 8-CH High Definition Audio 4x SATA 3.0Gb/s 2x SATA 6.0Gb/s 2x USB 3.0 12x USB 2.0 DVI/VGA/HDMI ATX
CPU:
Intel i7 2600k with stock cooler
RAM:
Mushkin 8GB DDR3 1333mhz
HD
Vertex 3 60gb SSD
WD Caviar Green 1TB SATA - not hooked up yet.
OPTICAL:
LG Blu-ray/DVD Combo
VIDEO CARD
XFX AMD Radeon HD 6950(HD-695X-CNFC) AMD Radeon HD 6950 Chipset (800Mhz) 2048MB (5000Mhz) DDR5 HDMI/Dual DVI/Mini Display Port PCI-Express 2.1 Graphics Card
PSU:
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 650W 80PLUS Bronze Certified Power Supply
CASE:
Cooler Master CM 690 II
Issues:
When installing Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit for the 1st time, it gave me a blue screen about half-way through. That was a bad sign. Tried 2nd time and went fine.
Did a bunch of updates, installed all drivers (including drivers that came with ASUS mobo, ie Intel Chip set drivers??, LAN, Sound card, etc). Now i'm having issues getting the comp to wake up from sleep/standby.
What do you guys think? Is the likely culprit the ATI card? Windows installed the ati drivers automatically, then i went and installed the drivers from XFX including Catalyst.
Also, what about the RAM. When at the store, I told the guy i wanted 1600mhz ram, but when i got home i saw that it's 1333mhz. Does this create a bottleneck for my CPU?
This is my first intel-ATI build. My previous build was a phenom 2 955 with GTX 570 and it's been running problem free for almost a year now.
Any input will be GREATLY appreciated. THANKS GUYS!!!
P.S. i built this rig for a friend of mine, who wanted to go the APPLE route as he wanted a problem free computer. I convinced him to save $$$ and go with a custom rig, assuring him it will be just as problem free as the apple counterpart. You can image what he thinks of my suggestion now :/
