picked up the parts for a new build on Dec02.
i7-8700k
MSI GTX1070ti Gaming 8G
MSI Z370 Gaming M5
Corsair RM650i
Corsair Graphite 230T case
Corsair LPX Vengeance 3200MHz 16G
the build went well but ran into some issues i could use some advice on. Going to be taking it back to the store today and would love to have proper info.
The first issue was the case (Corsair Graphite 230T) The stand offs for the mother board. There were nine of them and they lined up well with the motherboard BUT...when i was screwing it down i noticed the center stand off is just a pin. (middle row of standoffs right in center.) I took the motherboard out again to see if i have to remove this pin (the case came with 2 extra standoffs) but the pin did not look removable. Is this normal or a defect? I looked on line at the pix on the corsair web site and it looks to be a standoff in the pic.
The next problem is the power supply. (Corsair RM650i) The manual listed a 24 pin ATX cable. (20+4) BUT. the cable i got is a 24 pin on one end (solid no 20=4) the other end is a 28pin (20 + 8) this does not seem right.
the last one is a question about the graphics card (MSI gamer GTX1070ti) The card has a 8 pin and 6 pin connector for extra power. The question is with the power supply. It has a cable that has a 8 pin and a pig tail with a 6 pin. Can i use that to power the card? or do i have to use a separate 8 pin and 6 pin.
Hope i did not fry anything. i tried hooking it all up. (did not notice the ATX 24pin thing until i rechecked) The system did not start. At first it (like half a second) powered then was dead.
so going to take it back today and get them to fix it. They have a free set up a new system deal if you buy parts from them. (install parts and get it to post) going to demand that they get the system to post if the parts are defective.
thanks
