New Build not booting

So I ordered what is below minus the OCZ Modstream.

It was originally a Powerstream 520w.

I put the system together out of the case. No boot. Trouble shot down to the PS.
I verified it in my old PC its dead.

I go to Compusa cuz im dieing to use my new system.

I put it in the machine, No Boot. Standby LED Just like the Powerstream.

I removed the Video Card, the memory and turn it on with just the CPU/Mobo/PS

No boot

I removed the CPU, Installed the vid card, memory

Hit the button, Boom turns on.. 4 LEDs fans spin up and it sits.

So, Do I have a bad CPU or Mobo?



Oh yea, all the appropriate power connections are plugged in (4)

Doesnt get that far. With the CPU installed I hit the power button it doesnt do anything. 1 light on the motherboard (standby) LED is lit.
When i remove the CPU i hit the power all the fans spin up.... and the other LEDs light up on the mobo....

Clear the CMOS, I think there is a button on the mainboard.
Then tery again.

I cleared the cmos a few times, I have also removed the battery.


When the CPU is in the socket and I hit the pwr button It seems to not try to boot.
no beeps or anything

just to double check...

Plug in nothing but your CPU and power supply on the board and connect up the PC speaker, no power to hard drives, no ram, nothing.

No beep) Try setting FSB to 100mhz via jumper/switch. otherwise motherboard stuffed, get it replaced
Single very long beep) that means its missing ram, put in a stick of ram
-No beep) stuffed ram/not seated properly or motherboard stuffed(assuming it doesn't have onboard graphics)
-Single long beep) ram not seated properly or ram is faulty
-1 long beep, 2/3 short beeps) Missing graphics card

Slot in your graphics card, plug in your monitor
-Single short beep after a while) all should be good
-1 long beep, 2/3 short beeps) Graphics card not seated properly, faulty slot/card
-No beep) try reseting CMOS, try lowering FSB to 100mhz via jumper/switch, reinsert gfx card

Assuming everything is good so far plug in hard drives, if you get problems then theres not enough power or you have the cables the wrong way around

check your manual a few more times, wiring from the PSU to the mobo, and from the power buttons to the mobo, vice versa etc etc

It's most likely your mobo if it is a hardware-defect issue, CPU's tendencies to become defective are lower than mobos.

some mobos require you to remove jumpers too before you start usin' them

I cant post, cant get into the bios.

Its almost as if no power is being supplied. But the Standby led is on.

Also.

If you didnt know, a DFI board has 2 leds on it that are always on when power is applied.
Standby and Dram. Now standby is always on.... When i remove the cpu the dram led also lights up
put it back in, no light.

I have everything out of the case sitting on my desk safely. The case is eliminated from the picture.
People are telling me to clear the CMOS when I cant get any beeps, no post, no video, no fans spin.... almost as if the power was unplugged and im hitting the power

That actually sounds like a bad PSU.

The LED's may be powered by the CMOS battery. Or the PSU may not be able to handle that and only put out what they can handle. (The LED's)
