Okay, I've been working on putting a new build together, the only remaining components from my last pc will be my HDDs, monitor and peripherals. I've been using the Microsoft Cashback/eBay promotion to pick up a few items here and there, so I've got a blend of new and used parts. When I originally put everything together, it'd power up, all the fans would spin, I could hear the HDD humming, but I wouldn't get any video.
Worried it might be the video card, I put in an old PCI card, but still no video. There was one difference though. With the PCIe card I wouldn't receive any message from the monitor, but with the PCI card it'd read some signal apparently because the standby light would turn green before the monitor actually displayed a brief "no signal" message.
I had hoped to save my old 550w PSU, but thought it might be the issue, maybe with the PCI card it was getting just enough power to try and start up, but couldn't stay running? I don't really know how to judge how much power a particular build might need, so I bought a new 850w PSU to put in the thing, but I'm still having the exact same problem.
I have 2 sticks of RAM, which I've tried to switch out and in a couple different slots, but they're also the same brand/make bought in a 2 x 2gb combo. I've also tried removing the CMOS battery to no avail.
I'm thinking it's the motherboard? Luckily it's a new component and I'm going to go ahead and request an RMA for it, but is there anything else I might try that I may have overlooked?

Video: VisionTek Ati Radeon 4850 - used
Motherboard: Asus P5Qe - New
RAM: 2 x 2gb OCZ Reaper ddr2 800 4-4-4-15 - New
DVDR/RW: Samsung SH-S223Q - New
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 850w - New
HDD: 320gb WD SATA - carryover
