Building a new system.

Abit AN7
XP 2500+
Mushkin Blue PC2700 512MB
WD 80 GB SE ATA
ATI 9700 Pro AIW
SLK-900A Heatsink
Codegen 350 Watt PSU

Windows XP Pro

System boots, although it seems very slowly to boot.

I get the Windows XP install windows, I choose install, format disk, and it goes to town, it then reboots, and loops into the same exact install procedure again, i remove the Win XP disk and it says that there is no system disk and to insert one. i insert the Win XP disk and it loops again asking to reformat etc.

Grrr! What the heck!

Never had this issue before.

Please give more detail.
You need to make your PC bootable from the CD drive by going into the bios. Then, you put the XP CD in the drive and reboot. When it starts, it asks you to hit any key if you want to boot from the CD. You should hit a key. Then, you follow all the prompts and format and whatever. The next time it automatically reboots, it will ask you again to hit a key if you want to boot from the CD. You should NOT hit any keys. You only force it to boot from the CD once, the first time. That is it.

It will reboot several times before it is finished with the installation and it will ask you every time if you want to boot from the CD. Never hit a key except the first time.

I am sorry if you know this and the problem is somewhere else. But, it was not clear from your post what exactly you did.

Thanks for the input. I do know all that though I do appreciate the input,

I pulled the jumper on the IDE drive and disabled SATA in BIOS and now it gives me restarting installation window. We'll see from here.

It boots quicker.

Well I got another BSOD at about 19 minutes left of install.

Sigh.

First experience with Abit is not going well at all.

Start the install from the beginning with the jumper removed from the WD hard drive. I ran into the same slow boot/post issue building my friends PC with a WD hard drive. Removing the jumper fixed the problem.

It finally installed Win XP. I think the Motherboard just wanted me to sit and watch the screen while it installed. Every other time I just clicked on my work desktop KVM and it failed. Once I sat and watched it do its thing the whole time it worked. Grrrr.
