im looking to build a new system. i play mostly CS:S and possibly newer games in the future.
i am looking at a amd setup. i already have dvd drives and hard drives.
this is what i have so far:
CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model ADA3800BVBOX - Retail

$322

for the board:

DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
$189
Should i stay with the SLI motherboard just to save myself from future upgrading? say i wanna add another 7800gtx or gt? spend it now to save on it later?

Video card
MSI NX7800GTX-VT2D256E (Lite) Geforce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card White Box - OEM
$465
would i be better off with a diff card? should i stay with the SLI board for future upgrade of another vid card?
ram:
OCZ Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail
$221
SeaSonic S12-500 ATX12V 500W Power Supply - Retail
$129

CPU fan:
ZALMAN CNPS9500 LED 92mm 2 Ball Blue LED Light Cooling Fan/Heatsink - Retail
$67.99

case :
Antec Performance Plus PlusView II Black Steel/Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail
$85

so far the total is 1431.36 i will be looking at hot deals when i have the cash to do this in another month or so, so i may be able knock some $ off the total. is there anything else i should consider?
as for the heat sink would the thermal right work as good without a fan as the zalman?

is there anything else i should look at in terms of mother board or proc? thanks for the input. i would like to keep this under 1400 tops prefer closer to 1300 or under but im not one to cheap out if its only a 100 or 2

My opinons:

I'd say get a 3700+ SD or if budget permits check out a 3800+ X2

Single 7800gt or 7800gtx, skip the SLI board

2 gigs value ram

Another motherboard to check out is the Epox 9NPA+

What kind of monitor are you using? Something high res to benefit from all this?

I would get the 3800+ x2,
and the DFI Lanparty.
OCZ tends to agree with DFI more than other brands.
Good PSU!
Get the Zalman 9500 HSF, it cools almost the same as water cooling.
Nice case!

About your video card, If you can afford it, I wouldn't even consider getting something from the 6 series. Here is how the performance would be

7800GT < 7800GTX < Dual 7800GT.

keep the X2. get get like, 2gb ocz value. ditch the sli board and get the ultra-d. then, maybe upgrade to the GTX if that saves you any money. also, get a thermalright SI-120 since its cheeper, and has the same if not better performance than the 9500.

does the thermal right perform as good as the zalman without a fan? if i get an answer to that i will change my OP. i saw the $20 diff but i want to keep my stuff cool as that is the main reason for this upgrade. my 2.8E is out of control even on stock settings.
