I'm finally getting around to building a new gaming computer. Below is what I'm looking to our. I'm getting via my works computer loan program so I have to get everything from TigerDirect. I'm kind of torn on the video card between a 7900 GTX or a 7950 GX2. Let me know what you think.

New Parts
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40Ghz 4MB Cache - Retail
ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe
2GB Corsair XMS PC8500 DDR2 (TWIN2X2048-8500C5)
eVGA GeForce 7950 GX2 w/1GB
Western Digital SE16 250GB
OCZ GameXStream 700W

Parts I Have
SilverStone TJ03 Case
Western Digital SE16 400GB
Plextor 16X DVDRW SATA
LiteOn 16X DVDROM

Are you planning on waste money on a 2nd 7950GX2? If not,, why are you getting a SLI mobo? Get ASUS P5W DH DELUXE instead. You don't need a 700W PSU for that system. Enhance ENP-5150GH will do.

They just released the P5N32 SLI Premium so you may want to compare it before buying the SE model. The video card choice is a bit tougher to decide. If we knew when exactly the G80 and directx10 cards were coming out (rumors say november) it'd be easier to decide. Two 7950s right now may not be a good choice. Might want to consider buying one or a lesser card and waiting to see what comes out this Fall.

There is not telling when that motherboard will be out.

Any other choices in the PSU section (Seasonic, Forton-Source, Zalman, Corsair)?

The reason I chose the OCZ was it is getting good reviews, and it is a certified SLI power supply. I will check into the companies you listed.

I've heard great things about that PSU too, just go for it - will be good if you upgrade too..

Keep in mind DX10 cards will be out in a few months, and a few months after that there will be some good games out and great cards at a good price.

In otherwords you should probobly get something cheaper... Maybe an x1900 card or a 7950gt

At this point I have already waited about 2 months to build a new computer. I could always wait longer and something new would be out. But I have to jump in at some point and build a computer. I can always either sell my 7950GX2 or buy another card for SLI later for a cheap price.

RAM is overpriced.
Grossly.

And if you don't know how to OC/tweak settings, you'll be back here asking how to get it working properly, since that RAM is generally designed for OCing.

Just get some good DDR2-800 unless you're planning on some insane OCing.

Also, mobo = crap for OCing.
If that's not a concern, it'd be fine.

But i'd rather recommend the P5B Deluxe or P5W DH Deluxe if you want CF support later.

Ya I guess, but how long ago was DX9 was released, this is a bit differnt

And I'm not saying delay your build I'm just saying you should go with something maybe half the price, it will still play all/most games max but atleast you'll have saved money when you decide to upgrade to a DX10 card

Well, I'm getting a eVGA 7950GX2 card. And eVGA has the Step-Up program where I can trade up the new video card within 90days of purchase. That should pretty much cover that base. And I'm pretty good about selling my old stuff if i need to get new.

As for the memory I'm going to get the Corsair XMS 6400C4 instead of the 8500. And I'm going to get a Seagate 7200.10 320GB instead of the WD 250GB.

Good move on the RAM.

You're throwing money away on that PSU (partially related to my hate of anything with X in the name, partially related to the idiots tax that gets slapped on anything with "gamer" in the title, mostly related to reality). Get a 400W/500W from a good name, worst case you sell it on with the graphics card.

The power supply it in the $140 price range, and it is on the SLI certified list. I may add another video card later. I don't want to limit myself by having an under powered system.
