Just completed 4th new build. On turning power on, MB lights come on, and fans spin (CPU, caseX3 and video card) but no POST buzzes (no speaker, just "buzzer"), no display, and diagnostic LED's are NO help.

Build: MB: DFI LP X48-T2R CPU: Intel C2D E8500 RAM: OCZ 2GX2 DDR2 1066 (PC2
8500) OCZ2RPR10664GK PSU: Zalman XM850-HP HD: WD Raptor 74G VGA: PNY
9800 GTX DVD-ROM Sony NEC DDU1671 SATA Cast: Lian Li PC-K10B RT CPU fan:
Zalman 9500A (w/ Arctic Ag) (have FDD, another HD and a DVD-writer--all
disconnected)

I've reset CMOS, tried just one stick of RAM (tried both, in all four slots), and moved VGA to other PCIeX16 slot, all without change.

Sounds like a MB, RAM or CPU problem to me...any suggestions?

FP connectors are plugged in wrong, bad PSU, bad Motherboard, bad CPU. one of those, you will need to do testing on each or just RMA the parts for replacements.

The FP connectors are plugged right (the power switch and the power and HDD LED's work--the Reset switch doesn't seem to do anything...). The PSU is giving some power obviously (lights/fans), but as to testing all the cables for output, beyond my ken. Short of changing it (and/or the MB and/or the CPU) out (= $, as my last build was AMD w/IDE, AGP and PCI--no real carry-over parts), any suggestions?

Start with the basics and move your way up the trouble shooting ladder.

Start the computer with your 1 stick RAM, mobo, cpu, and psu only (add graphics card if you don't have onboard video) unplug everything else

If your computer still doesn't start start replacing each part one at a time until you find the problem.

Groan! That's what I was afraid of...I've got a (cheap) MB and CPU on the way--can use the PSU from an old build, and hope it's not the VGA. Thanks, guys!

if you just bought the parts, they are under warranty, and I'd let the manufacturer replace them via RMA.

I looked on DFI site for Bios revision for the E8500 the results are below.

CPU support details LANPARTY LT X48-T2R

CPU Description PCB Revision BIOS Date Code
Intel Core2Duo45nm E8500(3.16) FSB : 1333 MHz , Ratio : 9.5, 45nm , 6MB L2 , Dual Core, 3.16GHz All The latest BIOS

You might have a MB with an eariler bios. Do you have another eariler socket 775 cpu? Like a 630, 805, E2400? If you do I would put it in to see if it boots. If it does your bios needs to be updated to get the MB to see the CPU.

BTW I could not find a LP X48-T2R I think this is a typo and should be LANPARTY LT X48-T2R.

Hope this Helps.

Oops--you're right: it is a LANPARTY LT X48-T2R. Nope, this is the first 775 I've built (AMD heretofore). Just got an E4600, though; I plan on starting to change out components and seeing what works and what doesn't. I will check out the BIOS, though. Thanks!

Pull your CPU and carefully clean it's back and (775)socket with alcohol and Q-tip. After three tear downs I did this and got it to post. Also check the BIOS jumper, I had a loose fitting one and the MB did not post 'till I replaced it.

The first thing you should have tried was pulling the PS FP connector off and use a screw driver to quickly jumper the PS pins. I've seen a few bad power switches in my life.
