New build won't post

So I am scavenging old parts with some new ones for a build for my kids. I have the following:

Core duo 6750- old
Gigabyte G41MT-S2PT LGA 775 G41 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard -New

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Gskill 1333 ram- new
Corsair CX430 PSU -new
Radeon 4850 -old
Couple old hard drives
Wireless PCI-e card -new

So I have everything put together and I turn it on, and all I get is a series of continuous short beeps. Looking up the error code on the beeps in another manual from a different gigabyte motherboard I own says is a power error. The manual for this particular motherboard does not have anything relating to troubleshooting. I assume they are similar though.

I took everything apart and reinserted the motherboard to check that it was not shorting on something, although I don't know what the computer would do if it were shorting...and once it all back together it is same beeping.

The cpu fan spins up. The fan for the case does as well. I have put two different power supplies in an attempt to troubleshoot and both PSU's get the same beeps.

Am I looking at a dead board, or something else??

Appreciate any help.

could also be ram error. what beeps do you get if you try to power-up without any ram?

have you tried setting it up outside the case, with one stick of ram and one harddrive. Install the minimal stuff and see if it boots outside the case. If it boots, install back in the case with the same config. If it boots again, start adding the other components back until you find the cause.

If it doesn't boot up outside the case with minimal components, I would suspect PS or motherboard. BTW, that 4850 is a spaceheater. It's recommended to have a 450 watt PS, so just something to think about...

So pulled out the board and set it on the static bag, connected cpu power, and motherboard 24 pin, tried one stick or ram, tried the other stick of ram.

All combinations still produce the steady beeps.

I tried a 530 watt PSU yesterday that I had and it still had the same beep. I could try it again while everything is outside of the case i guess

So with the 530 watt PSU plugged into the MB, it cycled up a couple of times before it hit full power for some reason, but once it was at full power it gave the same beeps.

Does this new setup have integrated graphics? I think it does.

If so, pull the old Radeon GPU and try to boot.

Hard to believe it's the new PSU. Or the new board.

Is the heatsink making proper contact with yr chip?

Yea I have, as of now I only have the cpu, ram and motherboard hooked or or getting power, and still getting the beeps. The MB does have a VGA out, but I have not hooked up it as nothing is getting past the post to display anything.

Sticks are 1333 speed which the MB states are compatible.

G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231542

The motherboard compatibility list seems to be limited to a MAX of 2Gb per stick, i.e. it seems to be saying you can't use 4Gb sticks (source gigabyte memory compatibility list).
Also at least 2 reviewers had the same problem (i.e. memory problems), on the amazon link you supplied, in first post, with similar sized memory.

In my experience, beeps are most often ram problems (but NOT always).

Bought this mobo together with KHX1333C9D3B1K2/8G offered buy Amazon as a combo and this memory does not match.
In the Gigabyte site there is a list for compatibility and this memory is not in the list.

Not compatible with recommended memory!, October 11, 2013

I purchased this alongside the KHX1333C9D3B1K2 8GB memory kit from Amazon. Unfortunately, this memory is NOT compatible with this board. You get to hear horrifying beeping coming from your board while it's stuck in an endless reboot loop. Amazon needs to fix this manually so it stops suggesting incompatible memory!

I am confused as the board page says it supports 8 gig of ram, and there or only 2 slots...false advertising??

Should i try lower speed ram like these

I assume the heatsink is in good contact, it is the old heatsink that was on it last time. I think it is an artic cooler. The pins are down, don't know how to tell otherwise.

The pins did come up a couple of time as I was attempting to get everything connected. But the pins went down again each time.

I stand corrected, there is ONE specific memory type which does make it 8GB total.

This one ...

4GB Samsung M378B5273BH1-CF8 DS Samsung K4B2G0846B HCF8

But that does NOT mean that what you bought will/should work, sorry, motherboards can be very fussy. (Or the motherboard is faulty).

You cleaned the chip of old thermal paste and applied new?

How could the pins "come up' if the chip was seated in the socket and latched down?

I know the memory support pages for many motherboards I have bought over the years never show the memory that I end up buying and I have never had a problem before. Can't believe that this board would be that picky.

I cleaned them up yes. I was wondering as well since the heatsink has nobs that turn to "lock" them in place once pressing in, maybe the pins are a little loose. But when they are pressed in the heatsink is tight to the chip.

This also initially felt like a RAM issue to me, and it still may well be....but, I don't see what is so atypical about this:

I would think his sticks should be backward compatible, no?
