New burner

I finally invested in a cd-burner. A Sony 10x/4x/32x (CRX145E).

I have been using Nero to do what Nero does best. But all the songs come out too loud.

Does anyone know a program that will batch amplify (or normalise) the mp3s? I want them to be brought down to about 75% or so. There must be a faster way then doing it all manually.

uh, if ALL the songs are loud, normalize won't do anything. Normalize just makes all the songs about as loud as each other.

If the tracks are too loud, can't you use this thing called the volume control on the cd player?

but that is the problem. My amp for some reason cuts off the speakers about a degree before the minimum volume setting. And the point where the speakers just cut off is still a little louder then I want. I don't have a problem with other cds.

so no one knows of any program which will batch (de)amplify mp3s??

Cool Edit 2000 will do it for you nicely. or any audio proggy. Normalize will drop the volume for you, you just have to set it lower than 100%.
