Since Newegg is the default I'd say it looks fine, maybe you can knock off 25-30 bucks with a different motherboard, like a B85 anniversary from Asrock or some such.

That being said, I'd also suggest (again) looking at a micro atx or mini itx build...smaller case, less space waste. Especially since there's no need for extra cooling here or external graphics cards.

If you're set on atx though, then yea, think your build list is pretty much set!

Okay, you've all gotten me over my phobia of Micro ATX. My information is based on an overclocking build I made like 10 years ago.

Here's the new revised build. Still unsure about RAM, but it seems like it's there's not a huge difference.

These parts all look good for your purposes, though you might consider the Fractal Design Core 1300 from my build if you want a less "gamer" case.

-> ASRock's H97M Pro 4 has no ALC 1150, you'll need full ATX and Gigabyte's H97-D3H for that. ALC 1150 is Realtek's very best onboard audio although its up to you if you'll hear it.

-> I wouldn't use an OCZ drive if you paid me, consider a Samsung EVO 850 instead.

-> 2TB HDD's are probably only a little more for double the space.

Just saying, your build is fine.

Hey guys, just ordered the computer, but I forgot to ask: should I get an aftermarket cpu cooler? Is it necessary with this build at stock speeds?

Here's the final build:

Nope. Intel's stock cooler will keep it from throttling even under the worst loads, and is actually extremely quiet when idle. Most cheap aftermarket coolers will not be as quiet as Intel's stock cooler.

Looks pretty solid.

Looks good, let us know how the build goes!

As for the cooler, I'll echo Yuriman's thoughts. The stock cooler is quiet enough at low loads, but it will be loud at high loads. However, a typical business PC should never be heavily loaded for a long period of time.

Thanks everyone. I'll let you know how it goes. And man, it blows my mind how simple it is to throw a system together with pcpartpicker. I haven't built a PC in years (I stick with laptops for my personal use), but it's gotten to the point where it's comparable to picking out parts for a pre-built pc on a manufacturer's website or something.
