New canon i320 printer question

I'm sure it's something really silly I'm doing, but I installed the printer, everything seems fine, but the paper won't feed.

I took off all the packing foam and tape, loaded the paper according to the directions, went to align the print cartridges, and the thing makes a bunch of noise, like it's working, but no paper feeds in.

I tried cleaning the roller which was the only help I got from canon's troubleshooting index, and that didn't work either.

Anyone have an ideas please?

Stupid question: You put the paper into the rear end where it belongs, not HP style up front?

Else chances are you forgot to remove some transport lock thingy. Inspect.

Yes! No question is too stupid, believe me

It must be a silly thing like that, but I did load the paper in the back, slid the paper holder snugly against the paper, and I don't see any more packing foam or tape in there at all. No luck yet.

I thought I removed all of the packing material too. I had the same symptoms as you - the cartridges would move around, the thing wouldn't load the paper until I took a closer look. Although you said you removed everything, make sure you get the small piece located right below the print cartridges. Once I removed that, there was no problem loading the paper. I hope this is the solution for ya...

Thanks for the reply Growltiger. I did see that piece of packing foam you described, and I did remove it before trying the printer.

I guess I will have to call canon and have them help me figure this out.

Take another look inside. Canon seems to go crazy on the tape. Make sure the print cartridge is seated fully also.
