I waited a couple months because I wanted the 2017 CR-V, but when I sat inside it was just too small. I owned Civic hatches and a Mazda 3 hatch before, and this CR-V seemed smaller because of the size of the center console. I was driving a Challenger and got use to being able to stretch out. Looked at the Audi Q5 and Acura MDX but the starting prices seemed a little high, and mentally starting at $42-45k and ending up near $50k just seemed like too much for a car. Honda Pilot was too generic looking, and Toyota Highlander and 4Runners just seemed ugly. Didnt even consider Kia or Hyundai. Then I saw one of the local dealers had a Trailhawk discounted $5k for a Xmas/end of the year sale and took a look. Basically, its the same amount of drivers space as my Challenger, but raised with a bunch of cargo space. Just about everything I wanted.

Not a great picture but there are plenty online.

So far so good. The granite color looks great, and I kinda like the red accents on the tow hooks and emblems. Uconnect 8.4 isnt bad. It came with a sub and amp, and its good enough for me. That was another thing that turned me off of the CR-V...the premium sound package with sub sounded weak. I got the 4x4, just because, although I doubt I'll use the "trail rated" tech much. Although the car raises and lowers automatically, kinda like the Land Rovers. I can also set it to a certain height, but I'm not at the manual reading phase yet. Passed on the V8, because the only V8s they had were Summit and Overland trims, and those were over $50K. And I had a V8 in my Challenger and didnt think it was worth it for the way I drive. 300HP and over 6K lbs towing is good enough. And screw premium gas. lol

Only thing that irritates me is it didnt have the LED daylight running lights. The only ones they had that had them were on the Overland and Summits, and those werent on sale. And for some reason they were hesitant to price it out as an addition. Basically the only way to get them was to order another car and get it added then, but then thats a couple months later, I lose the $5k discount, and its another $3K minimum for the lighting package. I'll look at just buying the LED head lamps later. I guess another irritation is apparently the auto lift gate can't be set to a certain height, but you can manually stop it. By default it will go high enough to smack into the garage roof. I may just see if I can turn it off all together.

Anyways, ended up at around $42K OTD, minus $17K trade in for my 2012 Challenger RT. Trade in value wasnt too bad considering I had major body work done and still had a bunch of door dings. Already made a couple of trips to the dump and storage unit. While I cant say I couldnt be happier due the to LED lights, I'm definitely happy with it.

Thanks! Well the only issue I had with my Challenger was the sunglasses holder would take a couple presses to lock, otherwise I never had a problem. I figured Chrysler improved their quality. I did have an 87 Wrangler back in the day, and I literally replaced every major component except the engine by the time I sold it. None of the recent GC seemed to have anything major wrong with them, but I didn't look too deep into it. I can always move onto something else if it becomes a problem, but so far (3 days ) it feels really solid.

My parents bought a fully loaded Summit about 4 months ago (it was a 16). I was able to do all of the negotiations online and over the phone for them and I think they paid ~52k OTD + tax on a 58-59k ish MSRP (prices are great in the NOVA area and I had them drive down from PA).

They absolutely love it and love the hemi (which doesn't require premium btw). They have been getting great fuel mileage from it and absolutely love the vehicle. If I was buying one for me personally, I would have went with one similar to yours, but with the hemi. I do love the looks of the JGC.

Hope you don't have the problems I had with a 2014 GC. I'm sure they've worked out all those bugs by now though... Right?

Well that's not true at all, but YMMV

Just keep your fingers crossed that your body control module fails within the warranty period and you'll be fine =P

I'm exaggerating a bit, but it still happened to me so I'll forever be bitter about it. Hopefully it's not a continued issue, as I really did like it when it worked

Heh, I assumed since the V8 in the Challenger strongly recommended premium all the Hemis did, though that was like 5 years ago.

If they had one available with the same discount and it was just the cost of the V8 it would have been something to consider since its only a $4K option, but it would have probably added $15K or more to the price due to the other packages the dealers order and the loss of the discount. I dont want a V8 that much. If it was a sportier car thats more about speed that would be different, but this was more about utility and comfort. The V6 moves pretty good, and aside from the sound of the engine I dont notice much difference from the V8 in my Challenger. Granted, I had the baby V8, but at a certain point the extra HP doesnt mean much.

Now, if I would have been willing to wait a couple months I probably would have ordered one with the V8 and lighting package, but I've been waiting for over a year now for different cars to come out and had enough. But as far as the looks, the Granite with Trailhawk red accents both outside and inside really look great. They also had one in Rhino color, which is more of a blueish gray, that looked sweet as well.

haha, I can understand that. If it does fail I hope its soon because I didnt extend the warranty. I figure in 4-5 years I'll be onto something else.
