Some video cards needs a 8 pin connector so you can put the 6pin+2pin to get the 8pin.

I went and bought the 6850 and installed it last night....wow what a difference. it was kind of a pain in the ass to install because i had to move my hard drive up a few slots. I had no idea how big these cards were. this thing is massive compared to what ive had before in the 6450 and the gt420. before i installed it i put league of legends on and put everything to med settings and was pulling 20-30fps and then after the 6850 was put in and everything turned to max i was pulling 130 fps and with med like the 6450 was pulling 300plus fps. i put on the new star wars and maxed it out and was getting 125 fps. thanks for the advice on this card....its amazing in the one night ive had it

Well, size matters! (and the most disturbing thing is they call the 6850 a "petite card")

So you kept the same power supply or bought a new one as well?

whats the difference between 6770 and 6850....if that card is petite id hate to see a "big" card. I did keep the peice of junk psu. I figured id try it out and see whta happens...at the store last night i asked the guys there and they said they wouldnt buy a new one. usually stores want you to spend money so i took their word on it.

It means the hard drive platters spin at 5400 revolutions per minute. The faster it spins, the faster it is in use (access times, read/write speeds etc). 7200 rpm is the standard speed for desktop system hard drives, 5400 rpm generally means a "green" storage drive that is more affordable per gigabyte, or a 2.5" notebook hard drive.

6770 is slower but consumes less power and it is cheaper.

The guys at stores sometimes don't know what they talking about, though (or *cunning/malicious mode* they might want you to burn your PSU and GPU so you spend even more money *end of cunning/malicious mode*). And you bought that PC at MC, didn't you? They might not want to tell you "yes, we pack our pcs with piece of junk PSUs that lie about their specifications".

It is running so far and probably won't be any problem. If you start having weird problems like crashes and/or computer lock ons, be careful.

whats the 5400 rpm drive? not sure what that means.

Mechanical HDD spin so they can access the information stored in different parts of it. An easy analogy is rewinding or fast forwarding old cassette tapes to reach the information desired.

The 5400 rpm is the speed at what the HDD does it.
Most desktop HDD run at 7200 rpm. 5400 rpm HDD are generally used on laptops to save power. There are also some higher performance HDD that run a 10000 rpm but since the advent of SSDs these units lost some of their appeal.

Basically the higher the rotation the faster the HDD can access its information.

EDIT: Guess lehtv beat me to the punch.
