New Career

Just have put my two week notice in at my current job. GM of a series of rock quarries in NE Washington State. In two weeks I will start my new career in the United States Post Office. I can't deny the benefits and retirement.

Its hard to give up this way of life and the entrepreneurial spirit, but I don't want to wake up at age 60 one day and realize that I will have to give back alley HJ's for dinner money.

My aunt has been with the Post office for something like 15 years and has no real complaints except for a'holes that she has to deal with sometimes, but the benefits are the biggest plus from what she says.

Its not a bad job. And they still have letter carriers on foot, which is really good exercise.

My good for nothing uncle managed to land a job there despite being a collosal fvckup. My dad told him to just stay there for 30 years and retire, since it was the best deal he was ever going to get. Obviously, he didn't last more then a year.

My brother and sister in laws are both post masters of neighboring towns and pull in around 120 to 140 a year together. They have great retirement and although they work hard with the day to day hassles, they seem to be content.

I've done enough soul searching that I realize this is the way to go.

My father, who owns the company I work for now, says I am out of the will though, but looking at what he has, I am not quite sure what it is exactly that I am out on....
