Same here. I'm not sure I saw any updates or fixes that applied to me, but the drivers work fine in any case.Originally posted by: Sylvanas

Im hearing horror stories with the cat 8.8s. Just how good are these drivers? everything works fine for me with cat 8.7s, so i dont want to waste my time wrestling with the new driver.

1. Uninstalled CAT 8.7
2. Driver cleaner in safe mode
3. Installed CAT 8.8
4. Reboot lasts 1 min before screen go blank and both HD4850 fans spinning 100% then shutting off after another 30 seconds
5. Reboot, go to safe mode, check for hardware conflicts, none found
6. Figure, I need to reinstall windows anyways, so completely reinstall windows
7. Install chipset drivers, XP SP2, .NET3.0, Windows updates, etc. etc. etc.
8. Install CAT 8.8
9. Reboot lasts 1 min before screen goes blank again and same as #4 above
10. Figure, crossfire is killing it
11. Take out 2ndary card
12. Reboot last 1 min ... same as #4 above
13. Maybe it is my card, so swap in the other card instead
14. Reboot last 1 min... same as #4 above
15. Thinking maybe it's my memory or bad bios settings
16. Over a span of 2 hours, tinker with bios settings and do memtest, all check out fine
17. Thinking bad mobo, install 8400GS and associated drivers and all tests are good
18. Thinking bad PSU, removed mobo from case and did an open air install with only the HD, GPU and HSF plugged in
19. After reboot from CAT 8.8 install, same as #4
20. Go outside and scream several times and have neighbor's call the police
21. Go to sleep (it was around 2AM by this time)
22. Wake up (6AM)
23. Put everything back together and install CAT 8.7
24. Computer runs perfectly
25. Drive to work (7AM)
Total time spent: 8 hours
Lesson learned: Wait several weeks after a new release before installing

Installed 8.8 yesterday on a Vista-64 system. Works without any issues, however I also noted a slight decrease in 3DMark2006 score, but this will not prevent me from using the drivers.

It shouldn't,people pay too much attention to a pointless benchmark like 3DMark2006,what people should be looking at are ALL the bug fixes that are in the 8.8s, unfortunately some people think 3DMark2006 is the reference when it comes to good or bad drivers,as we know its pretty pointless in the real world.
8.8s have a pretty huge bug fix list, that alone makes them worth installing.

for some reason i cant install these properly on vista x64. no probs since 8.1 to 8.7. Installed these first time around and it worked, next reboot and i was in default low res mode with an error saying that ccc had been corrupted or is missing. removed (with driver cleaner at one point) and via safe mode, but still the same. installed 8.7 and alls normal again.
swapping my current 2400xt for a 4850 in a few days anyway so might try again then

That's a pretty impressive score there. Most I got with my system at 790/1100 with a 4870 was 9395. Seems like my score was pretty low for being overclocked to where it was.
