I agree, I probably will not buy any digital files at $0.99 (and definitely never any mp3 albums at $9.99) as long as I can get so many CD's at club prices (<$5).

I buy whatever I can from music clubs and fill in with used/sale/online CD store/discount store for the other titles. People that quote $18 or $20 for a CD are either knowingly using bloated numbers to justify piracy or are so ignorant that they willingly go into Sam Goody and bend over. Do these people also walk into a car dealership and volunteer to pay sticker price?

About the shipping, yes it's slow, and not at all worth the exorbitant amount they charge for club members. That's part of the 12-for-1 pricing strategy, it ends up OK for us in the end.

They've always used a horse & buggy or something to ship these things. I have never had a lost shipment, but they often took 3 weeks when I was joining by mail. Also, I don't think they can issue tracking numbers on the bulk rate mail they use.

From my middle school days, I can offer these hints:

BMG does not carry Sony/Columbia releases. But Columbia House does. So if you're looking for Pink Floyd or anything else on the Sony imprints, you won't find it through BMG.

When I was in the CD club, I hated doing the monthly return, so I just called them up and told them that I live in a shady apartment complex and mail gets stolen a lot. They said they would not send me any CDs unless I requested them. Problem solved.

So if you order discs through this offer, are you automagically signed up for the club? I really didn't see a definite answer anywhere in this thread. Or I'm blind.
