I just started playing through the campaign last night. Much better than Ghosts' campaign (that was just dumb). And I'm surprised how much I like the exo suit and the new abilities it provides. I haven't played multiplayer yet.

What I don't get in these FPS games is why can't they ever voice my character? I hate that he's asked questions but never replies (must be a great communicator through his eyes and body language!). I know people will say it's because they want you to imagine yourself in the game or whatever, and maybe it'd alienate a woman playing the game to have a male voice, but it's just annoying to me.

Give my character a voice. Hell, let the player choose at the start to play as a male or female soldier and have two voice packs. Use a name like Sam and you wouldn't even have to worry about changing the script of the other characters in the game based on the players gender choice.

Huh? The guy talks all the time. And he narrates the cutscenes between missions. He's voiced by Troy Baker. Are we playing the same game?

Cutscenes are different. I'm talking about in-game such as when you're mid-mission and Gideon or someone will turn toward you and ask something like, "you ok, Mitchell?" and I never answer. I just answer that question with suggestive eye raises or body language it seems.

Got this game over the weekend and beat it today. Was an OK story, I was surprised how good the graphics were in some places, and then complete crap in others (XB1 version if that matters).

Overall, I thought it was good, but I don't think I'll get another CoD. I haven't played one since CoD 3 (first one on X360... yeah, that long), but I'm surprised it hasn't really changed the formula at all. Yeah the gear / guns / grenades / etc are definitely a lot more unique and varying, but ultimately you're still doing the same thing. Killing waves and waves of hundreds of enemies which doesn't really mean much or take much effort

I wasn't expecting it to be any different to be quite frank, I'm just not getting why people buy them over and over and over. This one had Kevin Spacey so I had to give it a shot

And I don't understand why so many people blame CoD for not changing the formula at all. Not changing the formula is kind of the point of a franchise. You don't walk into a McDonald's and complain their burgers taste the same as the one down the street. People buy into franchise games because they know what they are getting in terms of gameplay, atmosphere, setting, etc...

I've reached level 32 in multiplayer and I think I'm getting bored now. I haven't unlocked all the guns yet but there aren't any I like to use a lot anyway. I think it may be time to start single player and then once that is done trade it in since I have gcu at best buy.

Yeah, I'm trading it in this week, mostly because I can use my brother-in-law's digital copy (since my Xbox is his "Home Xbox"). I'm at 41 or 42, I think, and I'm really only playing it because Halo still isn't functional. To be honest, I don't get the praise for this game's multiplayer.

The maps are just horrible. Sniping is nigh-impossible, coming from one who had the golden Dragunov in CoD 4 and the diamond camo in BO2 (also had it for ARs and shotguns). The hit detection is arguably the worst it's ever been, to the point I think they need to scrap the engine altogether and make something new--it's the frustrating and inconsistent. Really, though, it's about how almost every map is an overly vertical, claustrophobic, bounce-a-thon. It's like watching Unreal or Quake, with all of the jumping--it puts Halo jumping to shame.

I honestly just can't get comfortable with the game because it's highly inconsistent with hit detection and damage, and lobbies are as unorganized and antisocial as ever. I play Domination probably 90% of the time, and I've not had a SINGLE match where multiple people communicated strategy (have a lot of the childish toilet humor go on, plus the typical hoodrats blasting rap, though). That's kind of a gaming-wide complaint though, the degree to which it's become antisocial. It's pretty bad that I've now got more years on my LIVE account (11) than friends (10), simply because you never meet new friends in-game anymore.

Well its been pretty anti social for me too. Domination, kill confirmed, or hardpoint is what I normally play. No one ever communicates anything. I used to play it on PlayStation before and I swear people were more open towards communication on there for some reason.

Hit detection is a well a hit and miss. Many times I've straight up shot someone's in the upper torso area and they still are fine. Or I've emptied a clip and itsike they have some type of shield around them.

I don't have any complaints about the maps, they are pretty much as I remember from the past. Battlefield is more of an open land warzone. Some of those maps I could walk for a whole two minutes without finding anyone. But then again battlefield is more strategic.

I'm waiting until my gcu membership goes through in the best buy system so I can go trade it in and get whatever they give you. Or I may just wait to do it after black Friday. Cod is always one of those games where the trade value is pretty good. I remember months after ghosts was out I got $30 for it.

If I can't make the MS store sale on the 27th I'll use it to get forza 2.

Yeah I'm not blaming them at all. Clearly people are buying it, so more power to them. I just don't get the people who buy iteration after iteration... but if it's what they like, then good for them.

I see a lot of people say they won't get it then they buy it day one. If it wasn't the free game from target I would not have purchased it. For me I could rent it for a week level up to get bored in mp, get through single player and return it. Trading it in soon and I pretty much got back what I originally paid.

Yeah that is what I'm doing. I just got rid of a ton of stuff recently so I have a decent gift card for Gamestop. I may just pick up the PS4.

You may want to see if you can get the BF bundle with last of us and gta v. I'm trading in my ps3 gta v copy to target for a $30 coupon towards the ps4 version.

I also have a lot of ps3 games but no ps3 anymore since I traded that in for an Xbox one. They really aren't worth much so they just take up space. The hardest part of having both next gen systems now is deciding what system to buy games for :/

I'm glad camping snipers suck now. Stops all the camping. You are used to the normal way of playing CoD that's why. This new one, everything is faster paced and you can't just sit around and snipe all day because of the Exo Suit makes movement different. Reviews all over have said that the Exo suit helps with making this game feel more fresh than Ghosts.

Pretty much this. I've put in some time (I think I am level 32 or so now) and I still really like it. I pretty much only play Hardcore Domination though.

The ability to customize loadouts is great, IMO. I didn't play Ghosts, so I don't know if it is similar, but this is really good. I actually don't use a 3rd perk, a secondary weapon, an exo ability, or any grenades. I am pure run and gun. I love it!

Thing is, I just see the "new way" as the "old way," but with double-jump and tiny maps. "Sniping" and "camping" are very different things, and the second one is far from gone in CoD. I mean, in BO2, my weapon of choice was the SCAR-H. Now, it's the HBRa3, which is a bit similar (shoots a bit faster, so I can't tap-fire as precisely as I liked to).

When I say you can't snipe, I don't mean that I can't sit back, do nothing, and pick off stragglers. I mean that I can't even bother to use a sniper rifle, and it's because of horrid hit detection and crazy amounts of cover, not because of the game's speed. I was play on Instinct a day or two ago, and this guy was lying on the big machine surrounding point C in Domination. I shot him with a sniper 4 times, nothing. I thought it was because he was dead, and his body was flopping because of the bullet impact. It wasn't until I started seeing sniper rounds come out of him that I realized he was alive, and it just wasn't registering hits. The fifth round finally hit him (in the head, thankfully), and that was that. Such hit detection is the epitome of my issue with the game.

Like I said, in BO2, I went with the SCAR-H, usually paired with an S12. The snipers were a secondary endeavor for me. In this game, I'd honestly rather see them just scrap snipers altogether, as opposed to leaving them as weapon options, while making them useless. The biggest complaints, though, are just the maps and the inconsistent physics. Recoil varies from encounter to encounter, even while using the same weapon. Hit markers seem more to say "you might have hit that guy," than to indicate that you damaged him. I mean, I shouldn't get into an enclosed space, unload the 8-round S12, get 5-6 hit markers before I'm shot at, and then have the guy run an SMG along my legs and kill me, simply because 5-6 shotgun shells into one's back isn't lethal.

Pretty much this. I've put in some time (I think I am level 32 or so now) and I still really like it. I pretty much only play Hardcore Domination though.

No idea how Ghosts went, played just a little of it during a free weekend on Steam. However, the customization was 100% stolen from Black Ops 2, where they had a Pick 10 system. The only differences are:

--Exo Ability over Secondary Grenade (which sucks, because the Exo Abilities are pointless, IMO)
--Scorestreaks are now optional (hence the Pick 13)

I don't actually use any Scorestreaks. In Domination, if you play it properly (as opposed to the masses who just play Team Campmatch and never try to grab points), you die too frequently to take Scorestreaks, IMO. I take my HBR with 2-3 attachments, an S12 (on smaller maps) or Bal (on larger ones), 4-5 Perks (depending on if I want 2 Perk 2 options or not), and maybe a couple of frags (if I take 2 HBR attachments, instead of 3). I don't bother with an Exo Ability or Scorestreaks because you die too much from the claustrophobic map spawning, in my experience.

I take UAV and Care package as my streaks. I like the UAV and it is easy enough to get (400 points IIRC) and it really helps your team out in hardcore. I also pretty much exclusively use SMGs. I love their mobility for run and gun.

The class customization might be from Black Ops 2. I didn't play that one either.

Started playing this yesterday (just MP) and it's pretty solid. I'm not very good because I haven't spent a lot of time with shooters on the PS4 yet, but I still had enough fun. I haven't given a lot of the default weapons a go yet, but the first shotgun that was unlocked seems pretty useless even at the close range that previous shotguns used to be better at. Hope some of the other ones are an improvement.

I don't know which shotgun it is, but one o them certainly pisses me off in HC.

I have been using some small SMGs that you use in Akimbo. You can't aim down sight, but they are pretty fun for run n gun style. I am about to prestige the first time.

I don't bother with Prestige, it offers nothing to warrant losing all of my weapon progress. Instead, I'm working on the A-R camos, with the HBRa3 done and the Bal-27 and M14 in-progress. Longshots are hard to get in the game, just because of how congested the maps are.

Finally playing this game and its hands down the best game ever released on the XB1. This coming from a person who hates FPS.

Wow you like it that much? That's good I guess but I wouldn't say it's the best on the system I felt like I was just a revamped version of the other cods. I preferred playing it to the others that's for sure. Single player was alright too, but once I was done and leveled up online I traded it in.

I found the multiplayer rather irritating. I'd put it above Ghosts and MW3, definitely between both Black Ops games, and IDK how I'd compare it with MW2, but I'd probably put AW behind that because MW2 at least had good maps (where as AW's maps are all garbage). The game ruins varied play styles. If you aren't a run-and-gun crazy person, the speed of the game will either screw you for your weapon choice, or because run-and-gun teammates will mess your team up.

For example, the M14 is a total dud in the game. There is so much cover and the maps are so small that sniping is tough to deal with. LMGs have gone from overpowered-as-they-come in the past few games to invisible online, as the pace of the game makes them impossible to roll with. The Bal-27 basically runs Advanced Warfare. It's got an SMG-level fire rate and Assault Rifle-level (which it is classified as) damage. I actually did pretty darned well with the HBRa3, but the Bal-27 is just unfair with the weapon balance. For a secondary, the S-12's mostly where it's at, but any shotgun is probably semi-viable.

What I'm getting at is Advanced Warfare's weapon balance is terrible, with the maps being the only thing worse about the online.

As much as I liked this game, I have already stopped playing it. It was a refreshing game vs the previous few CODs, but it just was more of the same.

As far as weapon balance, I had little trouble using SMGs against BALs. But, I played strictly HC.
