Actually, I would be interested in getting to the bottom of the nVidia corrupted networking issue. Why do some people have it, and others don't? Is the issue with specific manufacturers, a specific driver version, or just nVidia just have such a poor design and bad QC that its just luck of the draw?

I have a DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra, BIOS dated 3/10/05, and I'm using system drivers 6.66. Anyone else experiencing the nVidia ethernet controller corruption have any common items?

So it'd be worth it just to run to Fry's and pick up a PCI NIC?

What is the defaul clock on the memory? I takeit that it is 2.5v and 2.5-3-3-7? You should put that back and try your downloads. Sorry if you have tried this I didnt want to read the whole thread. Im going to bed now.

Picking up on what Toastman said above, I did a little research and found something very interesting.

Read this link, and try the guy's workaround to see if it cures your problem. It's a very simple experiment, and should apply to your situation, Haelwho.

Make sure you read the entire page to get to the workaround involving "tagged queuing".

Unfortunately, I don't have the option of tagged queuing disabling, but it seems I have fixed the problem

I really have no idea how or why, but I'm just glad the problem is gone.

I suppose it had to do with some fix I did earlier that just worked now after a restart or something. Thanks for the help everyone!

That's great news. However, for the benefit of others, it would be helpful to document what steps you did take before this problem disappeared. Did you follow any of the suggestions to delete temp files, etc.?

If you can run down what you DID do since posting this thread, it will at least go further in helping someone else with the same problem, even if you don't know for sure what did the trick.

Ditto for Toastman. I have a DFI lanparty and had the same problem, switched to Marvel - problem gone.

The funny thing is, I installed WinXP Pro SP2 clean, and then the drivers etc. (two times, trying to see what was going on). The funny thing is that I think it was WinUpdate that created the issue; on a clean, non-(Win)updated system without software installed (but I think with nVidia drivers updated) the downloads were fine.

The steps that broke it for me were - Install MSOfiice, run WinUpdate (MSUpdate), install Adobe, hello issues. Just like you said, .cab, .exe., or any kind of compressed folder. I suspect that all files are corrupted in some way shape or form, it is just most noticeable with those types.

Anyway, if somebody gets to the bottom of the issue, please post here.

Oh yeah, and since it works with Marvell it is not a memory issue. Not memory controller either, it's on the processor die. It is either nForce4 chipset (I don't think so, otherwise the problems would have been there all along, and it took updates / software to bring them to the surface), or drivers.

My vote is, I think it is a driver issue, so nVidia would do well to address it. I think it is not readily apparent because it takes some updating to bring the issue up. It seems to be some kind of a conflict or something, but what exactly is conflicting I can not tell without more reinstalls, which are not an option now (I need to work). If somebody has spare time, it would be interesting to install things in order, test, install more, test, update one bullet point at a time, test, etc. Time consuming, but maybe we could get to the bottom of this.

Let's see...

-Disable nVidia firewall
-Uninstall ZoneAlarm
-Memtest
-Prime95
-Tried moving stick around, tried different volts/timings
-Cleared out C:\Windows\Temp
-Cleared out temp net files
-Chkdisk
-Seagate Seatools utilities
-System file checker
-Spyware scans
-Virus scans
-HijackThis
-Delete pagefile
-Completely uninstall nVidia network manager (pretty sure this did it, stupid of me to not do it before)

Pretty much covers all I tried. Good luck fixing your problem, let me know if you need any other info.
