Hi all,

I just received my new computer but when I turn it on, it shows windows 10 starting and then after a while, the monitor goes into sleep mode after showing a "HDMI no signal" message.

The monitor is the one I was using with my previous computer and has always worked fine before.

What could be the problem?
Thanks!

Does the new PC have a video card installed? You might be plugging your HDMI cable into the onboard video connector, instead of the video card.

It could be the intel IGP bug? Are you using intel graphics? If the monitor has another connection option such as a VGA connection, try that instead of the HDMI.

Even though your monitor was working fine before, check another monitor on the computer.

Remove the card and see if the problem remains with integrated graphics (If you have them, if you don't this doesn't help)

I've ran into a similar experience with my R9 380X randomly crashing it's driver and doing the same thing on my dvi connection.

Check the settings on the video card. Are they real high? What is the max resolution of the monitor? Do you have all the correct pci express power plugs connected? Try reseating the video card also. Check the refresh rate for the monitor/video card. Usually it is something like 60Hz, 120Hz, 240Hz? If you get settings too high it may cause issues try the drivers lowest setting first.

It's either that, or the power supply doesn't have enough amperage to run a 970, which wouldn't surprise me. It sounds as if the OP has tried to add a GTX 970 to a pre-built.

It's already been mentioned but not clarified: Make sure you are plugging the HDMI cable into the GTX970 and not the onboard video.

I had a computer that only had 800mhz integrated video and when you plugged it into the 1080p monitor it could not keep up and the video signal would go in and out. In that case I changed the settings on the TV.
