New computer primarily for Photoshop

Hi, first time poster. I need to build a new machine to be used mainly for Photoshop.
I have been looking at AMD AMDX2 and MOBO from ASUS. Need help in picking parts that will do a good job but not break the bank. I would like to keep the cost under $700.
I tried to research this myself but soon got lost in all the different combinations.

abit ip35 for 70$ at the egg. Antec earthwatts 430w. e6550 should do for your wife, photoshop is a hobby or what? PS does gain from a qaudcore but that will be 300$. Cheap videocard, for 50$, maybe for HD output to a screen? No soundcard needed, 4gb of ram is nice for photoshop, 4x1gb of http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820145034 will do. Could go cheaper btw, I don't know where but there was some HOT ddr2 667mhz ram for sale, not at newegg but somewhere else, for very very cheap. Pick any HD you like, 320-400gb or so should do, don't know which one is the fastest, but seagate/samsung/wd should do the trick. Pick a decent case to keep the noise down, pure taste though, so up to you.

i feel your pain... my wife is a photographer and she lives on photoshop.

marcvenice is on the right track with pricing and parts. since your wife doesnt play games, you save alot on the video card with that money going towards extra memory and maybe even quad core cpu.

lets see what we can do here with a $700 budget...

intel core 2 quad q6600 - $290
abit ip35 - $70 (dont know too much about the board, gigabyte also comes highly mentioned in the forums)
4gb corsair ddr2800 - $140 after rebates (must buy by 23 aug)
wd 320gb sata 3.0gb/s hard drive - $75
corsair 520w ps - $75 after rebates (must buy today, 22aug)
case - ???
video - ???

without the case or video card you are at $650. the power supply might be a bit overkill so you can find something else and maybe save yourself some money. video card, not too sure of.

buy at least $300 from clubit.com, theres a coupon code for free shipping (granted alot of their items already have free shipping) and that saves you a few bucks.
