New computer temps seem high

I have recently built a new pc specs are in sig. The case is the Gaming Bomb 2 however my temps seem pretty high. Idle: CPU 37C, Chipset 49-55C, and GPU 70C. My load temps are of couse higher. Are these temps ok? They seem pretty high to me I thought the GB 2 was supposed to have good cooling? I have not done any overclocking to anything but my gpu (400/1100) since it seems warm to me. Thanks

Good case cooling helps, but the type of heatsink matters. You've got Zalman's top of the line cpu cooler installed. So I doubt its the heatsink. Venice cores run hotter than Winchesters for some unknown reason.

After opening the computer up and messing with it I noticed that the filters that come with the case seem to hinder the air flow a lot. Could that be my problem? Also I dont have a 92mm up in the top for a blow hole could that improve the temps? Thanks

i took the filters off the front fans of my case.

the chipset on the nf4 is supposed to be fine up to 60c, too high for my liking though. try rocking the chipset fan back and forth a bit to make sure its got good contact. i also took it off and put some as5 on there instead of the stock tim which helps.

people are also replacing that with the vantec ca-1bc i think it is, its called the iceberg. newegg carries it. its copper so it should help but it doesnt have an rpm monitoring lead if thats important to you.

currently, i get about 43 idle and 46 load. i'm hoping when the as5 i just applies cures it gets me back to where the ceramique had it, 40c idle and 44 load. all those temps are with the fan set at 2000-2500 rpm in ITE guardian, about 50% speed and 1.6 volts.

some people do place another fan to blow over the area but i don't think its necessary if you can get and keep load around 50c.

If you have a hole already in the top of the case for a blowhole, I would put a fan in it, since we all know heat rises, that is one of the best places to get hot air out of the case. Especially if it is a 92mm hole, because that could really move some air.

The chipset temps are that much higher than the CPU?

Do you have intake/exhaust fans?

Yeah I have put some AS5 on the chipset now too so hopefully that will help. I will look into the iceberg cooler after work today. My RPMs are up in the 7ks so the computer is pretty load. I will also buy the blow hole fan soon. Thanks for the sugjestions!

Probably, but I am not sure they even MAKE 90mm fans, most of the ones that I have seen claim to be 90mm are actually 92.

if that noise at 7k rpm is too much, as i know it is you can probably turn it down. just watch your temp as you go. running at the higher rpms showed no benefit to me. i think 2000 is the sweetspot for me anyway.

if its your case airflow being the problem you're just blowing hot air onto it anyway.

 This is true, before I install my exhaust fan (haven't gotten around to getting an intake one yet, will do that too) my CPU was maybe 52-53C under load. Now, as said before, it's 45-46.

Hmmmm what is the max safe temp for my Geforce 6800GT? because its getting up into the 70's C after playing a game for about 30 mins.

The threshold at which you video card will start throttling is almost double what you are at, so you are fine there. The 6800 does throttle when it gets too hot, so you don't have to worry about burning it up.

why did it go up?

that is high for isle, as ketchup said, not critical but definitely high. you could remove some pci slot covers to try and get some more air or game with the side off until you get your fans.

Ok I just overclocked the 2D to 402 and the core temp has droped down into the 60s again wtf is up with that? I lost about 10C by increasing the core speed.

i hated that bug. you're still on the 71.84's apparently. the 71.89 fixed that gem. i never had it go up out of the blue though, odd.
