New computer--weird problem.

So I got a Gateway off Tiger Direct. Refurbished. Just got it today, and it's already being odd. So I don't know if I should keep it.

When I first turned it on, nothing happened. No video was sent to either monitor. It wouldn't even post. Unplugged both monitors, tried again. Nothing. Plugged one in, and it posted, and the one plugged in monitor showed "Starting Windows." I plugged the other one in and it showed up as a secondary monitor.

I set up the computer using Gateway's mandatory thing. Then I run Intel Burn Test. It does fine. I run two passes of Memtest86+. It passes. I run Furmark for twenty minutes. No problems.

I start plugged in my camera into the different USB ports, checking to make sure they work. They all do. I unplug the camera from the last port, on the back, and it snags against a monitor cord. Both screens go white. When I press the monitor cords back in, they come back on. When I let go, they both go white or white-with-horizontal-lines. I screw the monitors in tighter and the monitors both come back on.

Except now the mouse cursor has a little square artifact around it, and when I right click, the monitors go completely white. Nothing I do brings them back, so I turn off the computer and wait a minute. Then I reboot.

Nothing. No post, nothing on the screens.

I try different combinations of one or the other monitor plugged into each DVI port. Nothing works. I unplug the computer and take out the videocard. When I try to start it again, it makes a repeated series of three beeps--one long and two short--continually. I try plugging a VGA monitor into the VGA port on the motherboard, but no luck.

I put the videocard back in, assuming it's just broken. Just to check, I turn it back on. It posts like normal and sounds like it's working.

I plug one of the monitors in. No signal. I plug the same monitor into the other port. No signal. I plug the second monitor in, and it shows the "Starting Windows" screen. I plug the first monitor in to the other port and it also begins displaying like normal.

So . . . yeah. I really don't know what to think. Either something is seriously wrong with my computer, and I need to send it back right now and just build my own later, or the videocard was seated badly and needed to be taken out and put back in.

What are your opinions? Thanks for your help.

Maybe you broke a pin on one of the monitor cables when plugging in the camera

Well, ever since I reseated the videocard, it seems to be doing fine. Cable-wiggling doesn't cause problems, either.

If it happens again, I'll try different cables. I doubt any pins are broken, though.
