New computer

I have been saving lots of money so I could build a really nice system. My problem is, I work full time and go to school full time. So I don't know much about the current hardware out. I have no idea what's being launched in the near future, if I should wait or if I should just get whats good for now and watch it go obsolete just like last time..

I was planning on getting a Nforce4 PCIe MB, with a amd 3500. x800 xt, a gig of ram and a raptor for my main drive, then some random big drive for storage. Also random DVD burner and DVD combo etc etc, all the cheap stuff to go with it. I know that would make a nice computer, but those of you that are up to date on the stuff coming out. Do you think it wise to wait until more stuff comes out? I hear there are lots of things being planned for launch in the end of the 4th quarter... I just don't have time to read about everything.

I could really use some advice..I would appreciate it.

Well, there's ALWAYS new stuff just around the corner

The way to go seems a socket 939 64bit cpu on a NF4 w/PCI-e. I'd just wait abit till we see what kinds of experiences peeps report about them (new NF4 PCI-e mobo's) and go with what looks best mobo-wise.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I know my question is extremely general, but I know the guys on this forum really know thier stuff. I used to when I had time, back when the 1.5 p4 was hot..

Anyone else feel like throwin 2 cents in?

If you don't need the new PC now, then just stop thinking about it for awhile. Wait until the boards are out and the reviews are in, then decide.

If you must have your new PC this week, then buy it and don't kick yourself when shiny new stuff comes out. Shiny new stuff is always coming out.

Whatever you buy now (or next month) will be slow by comparison to what you can buy a year from now, but that's always true.
