The first time you flash to any BIOS of the 1002.xxx series, you have to either remove the battery or short the CLRTC points. If you flashed to 1002.002 the first time, you would have had to do that, but if you flashed to 005, 007 or final after that, then there would be no problems with having to reset the BIOS.

Some people get lucky and don't get the no video on restart problem. Most either have to pull the battery, or short the CLRTC points.

If you short the points, you don't need to pull the battery.

I didn't have to pull the battery going from 1001a to 1002 final. That's part of the reason I wondered if my flash didn't work properly. Like I mentioned previously, I got the "sizes don't match" error when flashing, rebooted (showing bios v1002), and didn't have to pop the battery. I might try re-flashing tonight to see if I can do it without getting errors.

No problem here, I used AFLASH under DOS. Didn't have to anything just reboot. I have a question: How do I flash video bios on this board(that's what I'm using for now), anybody?

Regarding the battery removal stuff, I thought that was done just to clear the CMOS so that upon boot up, it will load the new values from the ROM which has just been flashed ? So, if you don't want to take out the battery or short the clear CMOS pins, I think all you have to do is just to Load BIOS Default values in the BIOS after flashing ? Does that work ?

upon reboot after the flash, you won't get video at that point (ppl assume they just screwed their mobo). remove the bat or short the pins and reboot, and boom you're back up

I built a computer for myself and my frient with the cusl2 and a 700 running at 933 to 1000. For flashing the bios on the cusl2, I found that if you set the bios to use the onboard video before flashing, everything works fine. So, turn the onboard vga on and change the order from agp->pci to pci->agp. When I did this I didn't have any problems. When I flashed the second computer and didn't do this.... well, you have all seen how well it works. Playing with that battery or shorting the connection is not fun, but this seems to work, I haven't tried it flashing to the new bios, but I will and I will post how it works.
