New Dave Matthews CD

The new Dave CD is at Best Buy for 11.98....not really a hot deal, but it's the cheapest at any of the major B&Ms.

it is one of the BEST CD's (Under the Table being the greatest) of DMB in my opinion...the new sound is awesome...plus, Mr. Bond, none of us would want to screw Dave over like that, would we?

This is great....I thought I was the the only DMB fan here. Oh, and I've been listening to this CD for about a month and a half now I still went out and bought it though, I have to support DMB and it sounds a lot better anyway.

if you listen to the entire CD...there's actually a lot of acoustic in it...."Sleep to Dream Her," "Mother Father," etc...I admit, it takes a little getting used to, but this album probably has the best lyrics Dave has ever written.

great cd. I never listened to DMB till I started playing guitar a year ago. Amazing the little things you pick up when you start playing an instrument.

The entire CD was written with Glen Ballard; the band (Carter/Leroi/Boyd/Stefan) had no part in the writing. I think it's a good CD (doesn't hold a candle to UTTAD though), and it's nice to see them branching out in a different direction, but I sincerely hope it doesn't effect 1) the band's dynamic - not having helped out in the creation process or 2) their concerts, which are why I love them.

No offense guys but this thread seems to be heading into the "off topic" forum. Maybe a thread there would be more fitting.

However, I did like Dave Matthews back in the day with UTTAD. Heard both good and bad reviews about this new cd, but if it's his best stuff since then maybe I'll check it out.

At first I didn't like the new CD, but it is kind of growing on me. It sounds a bit over produced, and I don't like the idea of co-writing...but sone stuff is cool. I don't like the fact that there wasen't much open area for soloing/jamming, but we'll see. Rolling stone has a great story on the DMB and their latest CD as well. It put things in perspective, and upped my appreciation of the new CD as well.

For those who say DMB has sold out give the CD some more time. Also, if you are a huge DMB fan you should trust Dave and the changes he makes in his music. If he kept it the same you'd complain that they don't change the music up a bit.

I got this the first day it was ripped by RNS (I think 2.5.01) and it has become my favorite DMB CD. It takes a week or so, but after a few listens it is awesome. Every song is good, except for "I Did It". I am a huge DMB fan, but admit they just dropped the ball on this one.

Now today I have to go out and buy it.

Great CD and I love it so far. Dave Matthews has changed his sound pretty much every CD. Every CD it takes me a few days to get used to it. Same way with "Before the Crowded Streets." UTTAD was good but I think my favorite is "Crash." I also love their live CDs like "Live at Red Rock", A truly awesome 2CD set. Then there is the great acoustic play on the "Live at Luther College Album w/ Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds."

Like everyone else said try listening to the CD for a week and it will grow on you like fungus. He is my favorite artist because he does change his style....It always keeps me interested.

I saw it in the Circuit City ad this week for $11.99 and you get some Blues Traveler sampler free with it(to keep this on topic). I downloaded the mp3s a couple weeks back, and have been listening to it constantly in my car. I went out and bought the real thing(gotta support DMB and NIN) on my way home from work yesterday. It's grown on me, and I'm sure the boys will crank it up at the concerts this summer. I just hope they add some shows near me.

I don't know where you heard that the entire album was written by anyone but DMB, but I don't think that's true. If you read the Rolling Stone article in this month's issue, it says they wrote the album. Also, if you download the band's reaction to Everyday, Carter says, "this is the best stuff WE'VE ever wrote." Glen Ballard produced the album...I can't find anywhere that says he helped in writing the songs. They've (the band) have always just written their own parts around Dave's lyrics. I don't know for sure though, that's just things I've seen and read.

ps - Holden Caufield, I'd have to say that #41 is the best song he's ever written...if you've seen it live, you might agree with me

No, it says that Dave and Glen wrote the album. The parts for the band were already put up for them on drum-tracks, etc., already done by the studio, and they recorded those. Hence Boyd and Leroi not having their usual solos on the album. All 12 songs were written by Glen &amp; Dave.

All that info is from the Rolling Stone article.
