What are folks doing for stands? After a ton of searching, I finally ordered two of the monoprice ones linked here, but I had a heck of a time finding something that was an actual stand (can't do desk mount without getting rid of the overhead hutch on my desk) that could support the weight of these things and wasn't also $150. I know it says these are for up to 23" but I'm hoping they'll fit the bill since I'm not going to be working these in portrait mode anyway.

I got in on a similar deal for the NEC monitor with the ELO touchscreen through ebay a few months ago. The Touchscreen element itself is a 4mm thick glass on top of the actual LCD which kind of robs the clarity of the LCD, and makes images a bit dim as-well. Needless to say, I quickly opened up the monitor and removed the glass touchscreen portion, along with its controller board and USB cable. Reassembled the monitor back to its original state and havn't looked back since. The image clarity and sharpness is worlds better without that thick glass touchscreen in front of the screen. I also tracked down the original NEC stand for it which clicks into place, but any heavy duty VESA mount in 100x100mm or 200x100mm will work.

These are really expensive monitors new. Google Shopping shows them around $1400-$1700. It appears to be a customized Samsung Syncmaster. I picked one up to use at work, not primarily because it's a touchscreen but just because it's a pretty good buy for 1920 x 1200.
The screen surface is an intermediate gloss finish, so it does show reflections. It's got more types of inputs and outputs than you can shake a stick at, and has PIP if you find that useful. Elo has drivers readily available, and you can calibrate the touchscreen alignment (the first system I tried it on was flipped left-to-right). Windows 7/8 regard the touchscreen as a second mouse.
There is an MPA button on the bezel. MPA stands for make my monitor flicker like mad, apparently. So turn MPA off.

It should. That is the one I linked to on the first page. It holds my 24" Elo just fine. It's kind of a pain to adjust though. Once you get it set right it works great.
It is big but not over powering in anyway. My desk is on the smaller side(4'Lx2.5'w) and it doesn't look out of place. The feet on it are flat and the bar is blocked out by the monitor so you don't even notice it. My keyboard sits on top of my desk because my pull out keyboard holder broke and I still have plenty of room.Any concerns with the size of the base as mentioned above? I have a pretty good sized desk, so I'm not too worried, but some made it sound abnormally large.
I don't that stand will work. It says it's for 75mmx100mm and the monitor uses 200mm x 100mm or 100mm x 100mm.

I like it a lot because it frees up a lot of space on my desk. I had to use the included bolt instead of the knob for the monitor otherwise it wouldn't stay vertical.
Can you take a picture of what you mean? I'm thinking about getting that arm as well.
Picked up the stand today and it is 75x75 and 100x100 so looks like it will work with this monitor. The stand tilts, and pivots which is nice. Also the base rotates. The attaching plate is a quick release so you can attach the back plate to the monitor and snap it onto the arm. The height adjustment is spring weighted so the height can be changed on the fly. Comes with 4 4mm screws, power brick to power the builtin usb port as well. Overall looks quite nice, and the size IMO is just right for a 24" monitor.
Did you get this installed and working with your LCD? Just curious if you like it and if it holds the weight ok...
you guys should really consider removing the touchscreen, it is more of a hinderance to the actual quality of the image than useful for anything else.
With that said, removal is very easy. take the plastic back case and front bezel off. The glass touchscreen is double side taped to the front of the screen. Remove the front glass. and the LCD screen can then be moved up flush to the top of the screen case by replacing the tiny screws that go all along the frame of the screen to the higher notch on the case.
This is very easy to do, and very much self explanatory once the plastic bezel and back cover is taken off.
Trust me, if you are impressed with the image quality of this screen, wait till you see it with the glass screen removed!!
