Where are you finding the 1901 for $500? The best I can see is about $576. I ordered this online a couple of days ago. I tried to go lower by talking to a rep but the best he could do was $590.

I'd also be interested in what this problem is.

I just bought a new 4600 a week ago with an 1800FP which only added $340 to the cost (slickdeals dot net). Not the same deal as those that got there's without a system, but a good deal nonetheless IMHO. I guess the reason it was that price is because the 1801FP is now out at the same price as the 1800FP. Looks like new systems have the 1801FP and a refurb 1800FP as the choices.

Hmm, I am so surprised that people would rather choose 2 20" LCD. I have been poundering on the same issue and my conclusion was that 3 18" would be a much better investment. You get a bigger screen real state in both real life dimension and resolution. It actually costs about 200+ less with a triple screen setup. And just for ergonomic reason, it makes more sense for me.

Since I am not a gamer, I was thinking of getting the Parhelia and a PCI matrox g450 so that I can have true triple-head support. Or maybe I would just go for a cheaper Matrox P650 and Matrox G450 for a cheaper setup. It is really a shame that the Parhelia does not really support 3 independent screens.

The DVI is a problem that lots of dell lcd's have. Basically when it's on DVI mode it will just go to power save mode for sometimes no reason. And to get it back you have to turn the monitor on and off several times, or shut the computer down and power it back up. It's a problem that it has with DVI, so what they recommend is to use VGA, which really sucks. It's all over Dell's forums. They are aware of the problem but haven't really done much about it. It happens on a ton of their monitors. One thing you can try to do is to exchange it, but sometimes they give you hassle about it.

I think if I try to exchange mine they will give me back a refurb but hopefully, it will still be good. Well I've decided I'll exchange it until I get a good one even though it is going to be a major pain.

I have the 1800FP and run it DVI at 60Hz. Is anyone doing the 75 HZ refresh (heard it was only for analog mode). Any difference?

what DVI problem do you speak of?

If I'm not mistaken a lot of 1800FP users had problems with clear type where it would appear really blurry. Much more blurry than the norm.

That's because of the type of monitor it is. You have to go to Microsofts online clear type wizard to get it correct.

(Since the 1801fp is the same monitor as the 1800fp) How will the 1901fp compare to the 1801fp for movies, no games! Will the extra inch be a lot better for web browsing and movies?
