New Dell 2007WFP owner with a couple of questions

I've got mine connected to a 7800GT via DVI. When I connected it the brightness was at 50 on the monitor, I set it to 20 and it is still quite bright. Do others find it bright, do you set yours lower on the monitor or adjust with the video properties of the adapter? I wonder if setting the brightness lower on the monitor would extend the life of the backlight?

Also, do you leave the color controls at default settings or have you found certain adjustments you are more happy with?

I've decided to just use mine for a few days before I start going on hunts for dead pixels and bleeding backlights etc. Mine is rev. A02 and it looks pretty good to me compared to my old 17" CRT that was well worn out.

I have a 2001fp and just got a 2007fp to sit next to it. The 2007fp is much brighter and I had to turn it down a ton just to have it somewhat match to 2001fp. I just used the monitor's adjustments.

I haven't hunted down dead pixels. I know on the 2001fp I have a couple. It was alarming at first but in real world usage you don't really notice. There are just sooooo many pixels a few isn't a big deal. It is kind of like a scuff on your new car, it really bothers you when you drive it off the lot, not so bothersome in a month.

I haven't adjusted my brightness or color settings at all because the defaults look fine to me.

I don't know why type of videocard you have, but you might try to use your videocard's drivers to help dull the brightness a bit...is there a gamma setting on the 2007?

No Gamma setting on the 2007. Just contrast and brightness.

I have the same monitor and 2 7800GT, I notice the brightness was high also (no where nearly as high as my Samsung 940Be tho) and keep it at 50% on the monitor and just use nvidias control for the brighness and contrast.

I still have the monitor on 20 and I adjusted the nvidia properties to 92 for brightness, I didn't change anything else in the video properties. As I said in the original post, I have a 7800GT (just one though). Even at these settings it is still bright. My old CRT is just worn out, it is set to 100 for both brightness and contrast and I would have to turn down the brightness on the Dell alot more for it to be close to the CRT.
