Watch out. Dell can be sneaky with the digital cameras.

15% off + $60 off gets a silver rebel XT body (discount doesn't apply to black body) down to $747. Then add taxes and it's back up to $800, which is right at or above where you can find it virtually anywhere else. Even the discounted price doesn't come close to being "hot."

Dell's lens selection is weak. It's mostly consumer grade stuff. Occaisionally you'll see good lenses that coupon codes can work with. Anyone who is serious about photography knows that "sales" on lenses are exceptionally rare.

Heck, you can get a D70s body for under $800 at beach camera!

The Canon S60 is what I had my eye on. I want the S70, but don't know if I should fork out the extra cash. Newegg.com has the S60 for 355 and dell with coupons is 274 + ship.

Prices on digital SLRs don't fluxuate much at all. The only times I've ever seen what I would consider to be hot deals on these cameras is when a new model just comes out.

When the D70s, D2Hs, 20D and Rebel XT first came out the previous models (D70, D2H, 10D and DRebel, respectively) had big price cuts. In some cases they were being sold for cheaper than they would be found for in the comings months. I suppose this is because shops were anxious to get rid of their inventory of newly outdated cameras. In all of the cases listed above, the newer cameras were only slightly better than the models they replaced and the older cameras all were, are and will continue to be exceedingly capable photographic tools.

The other time you see price drops is when a company is forced to lower prices because of competition. This recently happened when the Nikon launched the D70. It was a markedly better value than the Digital Rebel at its then current price. Canon responded the only way they could - they dropped the price of the Rebel enough to make it attractive again.

So if you want a hot deal on the XT, keep an eye out for prices when its successor is about to hit the market and shops start to feel pressure to move their "outdated" cameras or when a competitor launches a competitive new (and better/cheaper) product.

Right now you can pick up an original Digital Rebel body for $650 or a D70 body for $750. While those are everyday prices and not "hot," they certainly are attractive when placed next to their successors (XT and D70s). Digital cameras don't constantly (and dramatically) improve like computers.

Another s70 owner here. Extremely happy with the camera. Canon's software for it is top notch as well. Only minor complaint I have about the s70/60 is the purple fringing I'm sure you read about in the reviews. It only shows on outside shots in certain lighting conditions, and even then it's really only noticable if you zoom in on the photo. Other than that, the camera is absolutely flawless.

You do not need to be logged in as a member to stack coupons.

When I ordered, the Black Rebel XT Kit came up 15% off without my having to apply the coupon... seemed odd but I went with it.

Also, the $90 off $90.01 concession coupon doesn't seem to stack with the $60 off coupon. Annoying. Now I need to offload this, since I bought it but can't use it. Can't officially do that here...

I'm trying to pick up a Canon A520 and using the 20% code and the $20 code, which are stackable. Neither one is working for me. I couldn't get them to go through Friday, and again today, nada...
