New EVGA Warranty Policy? Wow...

Did anyone else see this news update today? EVGA has changed their warranty policy and I have to say, there is almost no point to purchase a brand other than EVGA now.. Pretty impressive...

- No longer have to register for warranty.
- Free crosshipping service(no longer have to send your card in and wait to receive a new one)
- Warranty now TRANSFERS to additional owner as warranty is for product(like Asus, MSI, etc), not the user.

Ive been debating going back to Nvidia from my AMD 5770 I own now and looks like that pretty much answered which brand name to go with.

Ooof that is decent. Looks like 30 day registration/original ownership is only required now for step up and lifetime warranty.

The cross-shipping is my favorite. Really not a fan of any vendor that does not cross-ship.

I am not sure why you are asking me, I have no idea. I would assume so yes, but that is a question for EVGA.

That URL says the new policy is effective for cards purchased after July 1st, 2011.

You have a point though. If lifetime warranty products transfer, wow...it will be like old times again in the 8800GT days from BFG.

Buy cheap used lifetime warranty cards off forums? Yes please!

Wow, I'm surprised they actually improved their warranty even though they likely have the #1 spot among nVIDIA card makers.

It's tricky to see with the given language:

Step-Up and Extended Warranty will be available for all original owners registered with the new global RMA system within 30 days of purchase.

I would take that to mean whatever warranty is on a product at the moment of purchase transfers and is per product. Any warranty extensions purchased and the ability to purchase a warranty extension and step-up; only available to the original purchaser.

Be a good idea to pay closer to attention to the 'stock' warranty EVGA now offers on their cards. Personally I'd rather a 3 year warranty with these new conditions than a lifetime one without. Most video cards are not much good after 3 years from a perf or $$ worth anymore.

Whatever the cause it's rare for companies to step up and offer something (at their cost) extra to anyone. Generally they try to just join the pack or even scrimp as much as possible. Hard drives dropping the warranties to 1!!!! year due to a "flood"???!!!

Definitely the best warranty out there, I hope they get the customers they should for being above the rest.

Really glad to see they did this. Their convoluted KR, TR, AR alphabet soup warranty was EVGA's only down side IMO.

Evga was my favorite already due to hydrocoppers which is a full warranty on watercooling parts and even OCing them to your hearts content, this just sweetens the deal.

EVGA, welcome to another new customer!

The global policy makes it easier for everyone to understand and allowing me to have a lifetime warranty from a company with a great reputation makes me think - 'why not (go with them)?!'

They're probably doing this to get a leg up in Kepler sales. I think that means they know they'll sell well and that it's worth the cost to them to improve the warranty.

Edit: wow, now we know the day of Keplar's release, LOL! I April 2nd.
