New Fastest Production Car

The Hennessey Venom GT hit 270.49mph at the Kennedy Space Center 2 weeks ago. They just posted the YouTube video.

On the Ford GT forums I think there were some posts stating that that record has already been beaten. They were keeping it pretty quiet about which car it was but one can only assume it was some crazy Ford GT with a couple thousand horsepower.

I read the article about this a few days ago...OPs title is a little misleading as the Hennessey Venom is NOT a production car. Regardless, it is a damn fast car.

"The blistering speed is the fastest recorded time for a two-seat sports car, but because the Venom GT uses a modified chassis and other components from the Lotus Exige — and since only 11 have been produced — the Guinness Book of Records has not recognized the Venom as “the fastest production car.”

1) It's not a production car.

2) It's not a legitimate run since the Venom only did the run in 1 direction, not both directions to account for wind. The Veyron did the run in both directions and an average was taken.

Bingo. I remember reading so many bad things about the owner. I remember he joined a car club forum (can't remember which one) and was going at it with the members about something. The thread attracted viewers from so many other car club forums lol.

I don't think you guys get how this works. You can't just throw massive amounts of power on a car and suddenly have the fastest production car.

But then again, a modded GT does belong in the same class as this since it's just another modded car anyway.
