And the problem is? this chart shows completely normal speeds. The reason the spindle drives get pathetic speed and get demolished by the SSDs is due to the SSD's massive advantage in random read of 4k sized files.
well to be fair, it does warn you to back up before doing the firmware upgrade... But it is important to know that some people are actually having problem.
I guess I lucked out as I had no problems with it. As people mention it detected new hardware and asked to be restarted, but that was it, it worked fine after restart.
I disabled ahci before installing update, and enabled it after installing it successfully.
Well, I'm not sure a backup is enough. Can you downgrade the firmware if the new one doesn't work on your system? If not then a backup is only somewhat useful (as you can wait a few months for a fixed firmware and only then restore), right?
