Hello!

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Mostly gaming, besides that I'll mostly use it for browsing, watching some movies and school work. So nothing special.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

Around €1100

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

The Netherlands. The videocard I have chosen will probably be bought from Germany, as the Dutch suppliers do not have any Never Settle coupons left.

4. IF you're buying parts OUTSIDE the US, please post a link to the vendor you'll be buying from.
We can't be expected to scour the internet on your behalf, chasing down deals in your specific country... Again, help us, help YOU.

Probably AFuture, 4AllShop and CaseKing (videocard)

5. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

None.

6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

None.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Run at default speed.

8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?

1920x1080

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Note that it is usually not cost or time effective to choose your build more than a month before you actually plan to be using it.

When the components arrive, so within 5 days.

X. Do you need to purchase any software to go with the system, such as Windows or Blu Ray playback software?

Not besides W7.

This is what I have come up with myself (and some hulp of others) and I'm wondering if it's an alright build!

Here we go:

Intel i5 3470
Asrock H77 Pro4/MVP
Gigabyte Radeon 7950 Windforce 3GB
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM
Cooler Master K280
Samsung Syncmaster S22B350H
Windows 7 Home Premium (SP1, 64-bit)
Gelid Solutions Tranquilo Rev. 2 (I know it's not neccesarily to get a 3rd party cooler, but it's a lot more silent than the stock one)
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600mhz Low Profile Blue
LG GH24NS90
XFX Pro 550W
Crucial m4 128GB SSD

So, what do you guys think of this?

Cheers!

Actually looks pretty good, no real issues there. Personally I'd buy Windows 8 and a 24" monitor.

Windows 8, even when I know it is ignorant, is something I just don't want =P. I love W7 and I dislike adjusting to W8 now.

22'' is the most room I have for atm, so that's a shame =).

I'm glad it looks good though!

Here's an interesting read on the benefits of W8: http://arstechnica.com/information-...er-on-the-inside-under-the-hood-of-windows-8/

For people who don't like the idea of upgrading to W8, the new "Metro" interface is probably the thing putting them off. But how can you know if you like it if you don't try it out first? Personally I'm curious to try it but can't justify paying for it since I already own Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

Well, at least you'll have more pixels per inch, some prefer it while others prefer more area. Just make sure it's 1080p.

And if you don't like it, there is always ClassicShell or Start8.

Good to know. I had thought the option for a classic start menu vanished with the final release.

Yeah, the official one is definitely gone.

To the best of my knowledge, what those two apps do is abuse the jump list functionality to present an arbitrary menu when you click on the "Start Menu". Then they just reimplemented something that looks very similar to the classic Start Menu within that framework.
