New GFX card, No internet?

So moments ago I finished installing my x1950xtx in my system, in place of my 6800gs. Fired up and no problems, put in the software it came with and let it do its thing, installing drivers and such. Once restarted, I tried using the internet but I can't get a connection. I mean I dont get why replacing a GFX card would affect my connectivity to the internet. I checked the device manager for yellow question marks (specifically under the network adaptors) and those were fine. Im stumped and dont know what to do.

So I took it out, put my 6800gs back in.. ugh .. so I could get back online and find a solution

Any Ideas?

Are you overcloking? What mobo are you using?

My motherboard EP-9NPA+ULTRA , and I've done no overclocking on anything.

Did you check your cables?
Are you using the Integrated NIC?
Do you have an IP address? (can you ping anything? can you access any site by IP instead of by name [ie: 64.233.167.147 for google]?)

1. I did check the cables, and they were fine
2.How would I check if its integrated, I mean never bought a separate network card, so im assuming its integrated into the mobo.
3. Dont know how to ping stuff :/ , I'll try putting that IP into the address bar for google when I get back it again (hoping for some more ideas/possibles fixes first though)

Hey steelh,

1) Great glad to hear that you did check this.
2) Yes if you didn't buy it separately then you're probably using the integrated NIC.
3) To see if you have an IP address goto a command prompt and type "ipconfig" and hit enter. You should then see some output like:

M:\>ipconfig

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : corp.ca
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 172.22.253.217
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 172.22.253.1

The bold part is what you should care about. (If it's a 169 we'd wanna know that too, as most cards default to 169.x.x.x if they can't get an address). Ping is pretty easy too, just goto a command prompt again and enter "ping <ipaddress>" like "ping 64.233.167.147" and then you should see some output that says how long the ping took or that the destination was unreachable. Lastly let us know if putting that IP into the address bar worked for you.
