You're a couple weeks late on Sin E1.....got it from GG for $4.99 a couple weeks back when they had Supreme Commander for $25. Then I got Stalker....wtf was I thinking? Anyway, never had a problem with GG and I always choose "dirt cheap" shipping option. Think 6 days is the longest it took anything to get to me...usually 4 business days.

What style of RPG is Gothic 2 comparable to (IE is it like Fable, Diablo 2, or Baldurs Gate) and do I need to play Gothic 1 in order to know what is going on?

i played G3 without playing G1 or G2 ... now i am going to play Gothic2

... i played the G1 demo and hated the controls ...

In what way is Gothic 3 like Oblivion? Gothic 3 was a huge let down. It was pretty crappy.

did you play G3? if so, you would *know*

G3 was buggy with broken SQs and even the MQ was broken .. i had to console for 3 of the 4 endings ... and performance is still so-so ... with a 'stutter' at the transitions [with my 2GB RAM ... maybe 4GB is smoother]

how it is similar G3 is to Oblivion is in the HUGE world of similar-acting NPCs ... the Quests are similar, both are Fantasy action-adventure RPGs with similar fighting styles and levels and advancement ... in Oblivion some NPC enemies level with you ... not so with G3 ... you become a 'god' as you advance

both have pretty seamless transitions ... but Oblivion has caves and interior cells you transition to

i found them similar ... i liked the G3 story and combat better, i like the fact that Oblivion was pure "polish" and mature

I did play it hence why i said it was a huge let down?

ill take it with a grain of salt cus that game was terrible.

Gothic 2 on the other hand is a great game.

Your attitude is kind of obnoxious.

He wasn't saying G3 was not the same style game as Oblivion. He was saying, how can G3 be like Oblivion when it was atrociously done? It's not rough, it's not "early" in release. It's just a badly done game. Sure, it has the same STYLE of gameplay as Oblivion, but so does Two Worlds, that doesn't make either of them a recommendation with Oblivion in the name.

He's saying, it's not like Oblivion because Oblivion is polished. They're just the same style of games, but both done really badly. When people say, "Who's Shawn Bradley?" You don't say, "Oh he's like Shaq", cuz that would be a badly done comparison. You just say he's a basketball player, same style as Shaq, but he sucks.

yes ... it IS my opinion ... i don't believe i identified it as anything but my opinion ...

and since G3 has been patched, it is a much better experience than i had OoB ... i "revisited it" fully patched, last week ... G3 is not a "bad" game [imo] ... just rushed and unpolished
... i would definitely recommend Gothic3 ... for ten dollars ... it will be an awesome bargain-bin RPG

No it's not, it's a video card like the 2900XT is, but they're two completely different products with different power and different generations.

Stubbs the Zombie demo you can try out by downloading it though steam. I didnt like it because it wont run native and the nvidia scaling is still broken!

As for the gothic 2 expansion and never got a chance to play it sadly.


EDIT* On second thought i wont be ordering these games. Maybe when the scaling is fixed.
