A brand new after-market 290 is already $220. Since an after-market 290 = 290X, there is 0 chance that a GTX960 will be able to provide as much value as a $220 R9 290 4GB.

Why is this? Because an after-market 290 = 290X are nearly identical in performance at 1440P/1600P and 4K, with 970 leading by only 6% at 1080P:

Is This.

This ~$200 R9 290 deals is a move with value we will not show in the GPU market for some years. ~$220 for Titan performance is still a steal.

I say wait until February as GTX 960 is supposed to launch by then and it might lower prices if its launched at a cheap price, knowing Nvidia though it wouldn't surprise me if they sell another turd with 2gb and 128bit at $200 or more.

If we get a 256bit 4GB card at $200 then I expect prices to lower across AMD and even Nvidia's 700 and 600 series graphic cards. The 660 and 660TI are two turds that are good for nothing, but screwing you over if you are not an informed consumer.

There is no reason to buy 660 or 660ti or even 760 these days, way too expensive for their now 3 years performance, AMD wipes the floor with Nvidia on cards $300 and lower.

Hello! I have question to ask: Is it worth to buy graphic card just at begining of january or should i wait a bit longer? I heard that around February there are prices drop. My budget is around 200 euro, my current specs are

Gigabyte B85M-D3H
Core i5 4400
GTX 460
8 gb ram
Corsair CX500

What GPU would you recommend?

I'd recommend getting a new PSU. That one you got is terrible. But hear me out: Get an EVGA G2 Supernova 750. It has a warranty of 10 years(!). So yeah, you get one of those and you're set for a decade.

But going back to your question.. I'd say wait for how the prices are once the GTX 960-960Ti cards come out the 22nd of January. As of right now the R280 is the best card for your cash, but that may change. Wait a few more weeks.

You're right, but if he has a low budget he can't buy a PSU like that with another VGA like the 960 after one month. Maybe I can be wrong.

Way overkill and a waste of money for his needs.
