new graphic cards on old mobos?

Hi,

i'm wondering if i could use the recente graphic cards like R9700 Pro in a old motherboard, in this case an Asus P3V4X that says it have AGP 4x.

My question is related to the voltage issue of the agp connector on the motherboard, the R9700 Pro requires AGP 8X (0.8v), 4X (1.5V) or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration (8X/4X). The problem is that i don't know the voltage of my motherboard and i'm unable to get that information, so i would like to ask if i can use R9700 Pro on my motherboard without burning anything

Currently i have a GeForce 1 DDR, the connection in the graphic card is equal to the recent graphic cards (the holes in the agp connector that defines the voltage and things like that)

anyone has tried this in similar motherboards or is 100% sure i can stick a recente graphic card in my mobo?

what cpu do you have... if its maxed out in that asus mobo.. chances are getting anything over a gf4 ti4200 is just overkill.

i'm not talking about if it's gonna do some good or not, i just want to know if i can use it or not!

offcourse a R9800Pro in a 1GHz cpu is not gonna do much, but a 9000Pro may do some difference, my question is related about if I can or not stick a recente graphic card in my mobo

9000/geforce4mx/5200 would be good for a 1ghz

i'm not asking if it's good or not, but if i can use them because of the AGP voltages or not !!!

Well how hard to figure out is that? Card requires 4x or 8x slots, you got a 4x capable mainboard there, what else?
