American Idiot (the song) is the only old skool green day you'll find on the CD.
I've only listened to it once though, I maybe wrong

Why don't you listen to the new album? Who the hell wants to play the same three-power-chord crap for ten years anyway? On the contrary, if they were still making albums like "Dookie" they would be a joke. "American Idiot" is their "London Calling" or, even better, "Sgt Pepper's."Originally posted by: RagingBITCH
bahahahaha......Green Day stayed true to their original sound? Green Day fell off a long time ago....god only knows why they keep putting out craptastic album after another. I can't say I ever listened to Slappy Hour or their Bowling album, but every album since Dookie has been crap. I threw my Insomniac CD away a week after I bought it b/c it sucked so fvcking hardcore.

Punk rock is not about playing I-IV-V 100x over in a bunch of two minute songs your entire career. "Idiot" is a punk rock opera (as funny as that sound) that neither takes itself too seriously or comes off as a joke. I would say they are at the top of their game with this album.
I listened to the CD about five times now and outside of the title track I hear very little about Politics (with a capital P). It's more about politics (with a small p), as in the politics of an individual vs the Politics of a government.Originally posted by: RagingBITCH
Why the hell do I want to listen to a band that stopped being any good 10 years ago? Their political "theme" is the only reason why their new album is getting any press - otherwise, it'd probably hit the bargin bin like their last 5-6 albums after a few weeks.
That's one song out of three on the album that uses that fomula. Check out "Jesus of Suburbia" which has enough tempo changes and non-standardness to keep even Rush happy. The song ends in a nice little A - G - D mosh pit jumper to keep fans of the old Green Day happy.Oh and btw - if you've looked at their tabs or the sheet music, at least for American Idiot, it is the same G#, C#, and F# they play in every one of their damn songs. Yep, they've really progressed from the 3-power-chord crap you mentioned

Time to give it up Green Day. Punk Rock is dead! Dookie is dead! If I hear another song from that stupid album (DOOKIE), even after more than a decade later, I will shoot myself. There is no talent involved in there music. That explains Punk Rock. One cord, one melody, dumb lyrics.
