"Today at the X06 conference in Barcelona, Spain, the company announced that it has employed Ensemble Studios, the RTS gurus that created the Age of Empires franchise, to work on a real-time strategy game based on the Halo universe.

The game, named Halo Wars, will be exclusive to the Xbox 360, but has not yet been given a release date. Microsoft showed a trailer of the game during its press conference just moments ago. "

peter jackson isn't working on halo wars...he is working on DIFFERENT halo content which he says "isn't quite a movie, but it isn't quite a game either"

I don't think halo wars will be that fun if all there is is Scorpion takes and Warthogs driving around for the marines. Hopefully Bungie and Ensemble get together to plan some new vehicles in the Halo world.

Well, I for one wouldn't complain about a Star Craft 2. No one else is making one right now and it's not a bad game to imitate. On the other hand, I could not care less about Halo.

It would be interesting. Don't take my word for it, I barely skimmed the GameSpot article.

I liked the idea that the Zerg can infest other species and add them to their gene pool. But they didn't explore the idea enough in StarCraft.. only thing the user could do was infest a terran CC. If Halo Wars does include Flood, I hope to see this theme more pronounced. These things just fascinate me.. like zombies and stuff.

Is it being developed by Bungie? Because if so they have very good RTS pedigree with the Myth series (Myth I and II; Myth III was another developer using their engine).

Q :how does the halo legacy of master chief single handedlt defeating entire armies lend itself to rts ?
A: it proilly does not. so this game will either suck or be totally unrelated to halo except for the name.

No, its being developed by Ensemble Studios who is responsible for Ages of the Empire. I Heard somewhere that Bungie had play tested this game and approved (although that is probably just made up BS)

Halo was ORIGINALLY designed to be an RTS.

I assume the story mode of this RTS will play close to the books, but the multiplayer won't(which is acceptable)
