sorry guys, i know this sounds really noobish, but hear i go. i just received raptor from another person on here and it seems to work great. i used to have an 80gb wd 7200rpm drive but now i just want to use it for storage. i loaded windows on my old drive and then used a wd utility called data lifeguard and copied everything over to my new drive and made it my boot drive. how do i know that the raptor is my boot device for windows for sure?????? all the files are the same on both of them because i copied them. also, if i store files and such on 80gb and keep windows and such on raptor, will the speed of using the files on 80gb still be the same and only the files on raptor load faster. i am confused how this works. also, do i even have to have xp on the 80gb for it to hold storage. i am just confused if the speed is only as fast as the raptore if i open the files on it only or not. also what files do you recommend me saving to each drive. maybe games to the raptor and such. thanks.

To see which drive is your boot drive , right click on My Computer--> Properties --> Manage --> Disk Management. The Drive that has Healthy(System) listed is your boot drive. Right click on the Drive letter in question in , click Properties --> Hardware , the Hard disk listed there is your boot drive.

If C: is your Raptor(System) and D: the 80 GB , you can safely delete the Windows directory and all Windows files on the D: , if you never intend to use it as the boot drive.

I'd install all software on the Raptor. Only operations on the Raptor will be faster. The speed at which the 80 GB can be accessed and read from will not change , regardless of the drive you're using as your boot drive.

Even though it's usually suggested to keep your page file on another partition or disk , in this case I'd probably leave it on the Raptor just so Windows doesn't have to access your slower drive when running or loading an application.

if your 80gb wd is ide you may have to change a setting in your bios, look at your hard drive boot order and make sure your raptor is at the top, then do what the green goblin said and make sure its your C drive
