New Headset

Which one do you all recommend?

I use to have the Plantronics audio .90s but they broke so I am looking for a new headset. The audio .90s ear pieces seemd flimsy which I didn't like. Are the DSP-500 ear pieces as flimsy? I kind of like the big ear pieces of the Altec Lansing headset. Which of these have the best sound quality or which do you prefer?

I don't know about any of those, but i have the Sennheiser PC150 headset, and i like it a lot. I also read many good things about it before I got it, so it seems others like it too.

Here's my review that I copied and pasted from the reviews page:
Pros:
-Best headset/headphones/earphones I have ever owned
-Crystal clear sound at all levels
-Awesome bass, very clear and loud
-Very clear sounding mic
-Very comfortable, even if worn for 5 hours straight
-Fits securely on my head, won't fall off
-Good mic placement, away from face so there are no breathings sounds

Cons (I'm nitpicking):
-Most expensive headset/headphones/earphones I have ever owned
-Maximum volume is not loud as I would like it, although I would never listen to it that loud.
-Heavier than most cheaper headsets
-Foam is a bit hard

Overall, this was a great buy and I am very satisfied with this item.


A few things to note, you should probably get them from Amazon or somethign where it's cheaper, the picture that newegg shows is wrong, the 2nd one in the image viewer is correct, and the ear foam does not completely surround your ear, it rests on top of it, but I actually like it that way.

Does anyone know how to mute external speakers so the sound only comes out headphones???

I never thought the day would come when someone would say NewEgg is charging too much for ANYTHING.

I liked the good old days w/ free shipping and low low low prices

If your speakers have a headphone jack, plug them in there. The sound will only go thru the headphones.
Or, turn the speakers off.
Or, simply unplug the speakers from the sound card.

we use the dsp-500 for voip at work and it SUCKS...worst possible headset...it keeps failing...we bought over 30 of them...10 just got sent back to plantronics for a replacement...we wanted to downgrade and they wouldn't let us...haha they are terrible

PC-150's have a quality build. They are very comfortable to wear and they sound good for games. For music they sound ok, but definitley not for audiophiles. For me the most important feature of the PC-150's is that they are more durable than my old platronics. I owned some platronic headsets before, and the mic broke after a couple months of use.

for the price range you're looking at, the sennheiser pc150's are probably your best bet. personally, i own a pair of pc155's that i got for close to $90, and they're isn't anything like them around the $100 range

Funny, owned 5 of them and all work fine. Sounds like you got an id10t error from your employees.

I will have to vouche for the Sennheiser PC-150s as well.

They seem to be the best out there in the range you are looking for.
