New high speed ISP but slow web surfing issue

Previously we had Centurylink and every website loaded instantly. But because of issues with watching Netflix, we decided to switch to Cox.

Since i got it up and running today, every website loaded really slow. Some didn't load at all and gave the "Error timed out connection" or whatever message it was. Some sites resort to loading just plain text with hyperlinks and no images at all. And some sites load the text first while the images load about 10 seconds later. This happens on both computers that I have, one is wired and one is wireless.

The only website that loads really fast is Yahoo.com (which I set to my homepage) and Google.com. But even when I click on a link from Yahoo's main page, the link loads really slow. I called Cox tech support and they went through with me on their checklist of the things they look for. They even said the signal coming into the house is at a 0 to -1 which he said was really good. They also did a ping test to google which showed no issues. In the end they basically said "We did our part and everything checked out, the problem is must be on your end"

I did a speedtest on Ookla and it says I got 20down/5up (but getting to this website took numerous attempts.) I downloaded a 10mb file really fast. Can also watch Netflix on the Xbox360 with no issues at all.

At this point I don't know how to resolve the slow web loading issue and hope someone here can help me figure this out.

What you're describing are the result of slow and unreliable DNS nameservers. Download and run Steve Gibson's DNS Benchmark which will allow you to determine the fastest, most reliable DNS nameservers for your exact geographic location. Be sure to read GRC's DNS Benchmark Pages located at the bottom of the page; particularly #7 on Configuring your DNS Nameservers.

Also, the simple solution may just be to clear your DNS cache. Open a cmd window and type "ipconfig /flushdns". If that alone doesn't help, what Bubbaleone provided should.

Let us know what happens!
